Sieppo -> THIEVES! Massive bug in the code. (6/23/2020 4:06:35 PM)

I missed the screenshot but some workers in a city I just conquered thieved around 3/4 of my whole credit reserve - 40k. I mean how do did they get their hands to it? I just shipped everything I have to a newly conquered city? This is a clear bug, please fix it. I think it's coded so that the thieves always take a relation of everything you have. In the capital city I'd understand it but not in a city I've held for one turn. You get the point.

Sieppo -> RE: THIEVES! Massive bug in the code. (6/23/2020 4:07:41 PM)

In the end, in this game, it does not matter but it's just a massive bummer every time it happens.

Sieppo -> RE: THIEVES! Massive bug in the code. (6/23/2020 5:19:46 PM)

Got it again :'D.. Man those bureaucrats hiding all our money in frontier towns..

I dunno if that's a bug, it's probably a punishment for stockpiling huge amounts of money!

Kamelpov -> RE: THIEVES! Massive bug in the code. (6/23/2020 5:53:43 PM)

I suppose you put in regular zone too soon.

Absolutely not. The first occasion was one turn after I conquered it. And even if, all of the empires reserves would never be stockpiled in one city, least one that is not the capital.

That's be just stupid.

That's exactly what I thought when it happened to me... I'm being punished for amassing money. [:@]

And- my second thought was "that's stupid"! [8|]

All those 'credits' & you're only paying your workers '2'. [:)]

I suspect a formula for creating thieves is being applied here.

Nope. Just nope.

koplinsol -> RE: THIEVES! Massive bug in the code. (6/23/2020 6:46:00 PM)

Pays workers 2 credits, is mad when they steal...lol

If it's a bug thats a bummer. If its working as intended, that's hilarious.

Nope, it is 0.002cr..

koplinsol -> RE: THIEVES! Massive bug in the code. (6/23/2020 6:52:59 PM)

Hahahahaha even better. It would be interesting if the worker salary was more, the thieves event won't spawn because "eh eff that I can work and get paid instead"

Lovenought -> RE: THIEVES! Massive bug in the code. (6/23/2020 8:00:18 PM)

It's clearly not WAD, because it doesn't make sense, no. It's a bit of a tricky game design question though. If you scale it, it becomes ridiculous. But if you don't, it stops being relevant to the player.

It reminds me of the Bandits in Oblivion who started spawning with Jade armour and such because you were high level. Which made them still a challenge, but raised the question of why they don't just sell their own weapons and armour, and retire as a very wealthy man for the rest of their lives.

JamesHunt -> RE: THIEVES! Massive bug in the code. (6/23/2020 8:20:59 PM)

Parking 40k money in the useless treasury instead making it work for you plus the populus lives in poverty and getting exploited plus public budget of lousy 5 credits leading to upset people and delinquency makes perfectly sense to me.

However some people should read the complete OP, 2 lines of text canīt be that that hard, as:

That they go their hands on almost all of the treasury in a recently captured city doesnīt make alot of sense.

Doesnīt sound as its working as intended.

With your Miltiary failing that badly, it was propably like Bane taking all of Burce-Waynes money?

However this is definitely the wrong subforum from Bug Reports. Thoses belong into "Technical Issues".

Everything else than this "That they go their hands on almost all of the treasury in a recently captured city doesnīt make alot of sense." might make sense, that is why I posted this.

EDIT: I mean its more like oh no we got invaded and decided to invade Fort Knox tens of thousand of miles away successfully by totally ignoring the defenses there.

btonasse -> RE: THIEVES! Massive bug in the code. (6/23/2020 10:02:37 PM)

It doesn't matter what he does with his money, does it? It makes zero sense that thieves in a newly conquered city can steal such a huge chunk of his empire's treasury. Definitely a bug.

Leslac -> RE: THIEVES! Massive bug in the code. (6/23/2020 11:39:53 PM)

The event is probably coded to take a certain percentage of your stockpiled money, modified by the roll involved. It doesn't check how long the city has been under your control or whether it's regular or unincorporated.

Now as to WHY it happens, is probably linked to your very low workers wage and probably low worker happiness. I believe newly conquered cities copy your most recent city changes, so you can actually influence what standards are introduced in your cities - worker wages and emergency food f.ex. But it's still somewhat unclear to me.

It could also have something to do with what main stat you're playing with. I tend to get one type of civil unrest event under democracy and others under autocracy.

I'd post this elsewhere, suggestions or the technical forum... The game still needs a lot of tweaking to iron out bugs and inconsistencies.

Only colonies copy the Capitols setting when being set up.

Conquered cities simply start with the inverse of the Happiness and Loyalty they had to the previous owner. So not having a Riotous relation with them is pretty impossible.

In the Zone orders are set to 0 Salary for Workers, 0 recruitment quote, Unincorproated. I can not remember E-Food, but I think it is turned on.

Will see if i can tune it down a notch

Awesome thanks! I was starting to dread thieves massively :D..

Kamelpov -> RE: THIEVES! Massive bug in the code. (6/24/2020 1:27:27 PM)

Haha well personally I pay at the default of 5 and keep a small treasury.

Sarissofoi -> RE: THIEVES! Massive bug in the code. (6/24/2020 9:26:05 PM)

It happened for me once too.
I lost like 3k from 4k that I had.
I paid workers like 0.005credits.
It really was bummer and it happen in some freshly conquered town.

EuchreJack -> RE: THIEVES! Massive bug in the code. (6/25/2020 4:04:58 AM)

Well, it sounds like the classic "Thieves stole the Army's payroll" scenario from westerners (and Sci-Fi westerns like Firefly/Serenity), since they're only taking from the accumulated funds, and not reducing the funds that are earned per turn. Presumably, if they are stealing it from a border town, that money was supposed to be used to pay your army and workers. I mean, you have 3600 soldiers and 3000 security personnel to pay. And while I know that you don't pay the private security personnel, you should if they're willing to help you the turn after you conquer their city instead of taking kickbacks from the thieves to not show up.

...but yeah, maybe the game should calculate payroll so the bulk of it is in the capital, unless as I just mentioned there is a massive army to pay in the field. You're soldiers aren't getting paid THAT much. That would be like a year's payroll or something.

Yeah I'm not using 3/4 of my empires reserves to pay one measly unit of 3600 soldiers in an army of hundreds of thousands [:D]

Sieppo -> RE: THIEVES! Massive bug in the code. (6/25/2020 12:36:44 PM)

It's more like a high class heist scenario of angry working class master thieves, which they manage to pull of several times in a short time.

And this fall, the newest heist movie: Oceans Zero!
