Bradley62 -> Keeping units near their HQ (6/24/2020 10:48:48 PM)

How do you tell which unit counters belong to what HQ counter? I have lapsed on this and now have 31 units low on (supply and HQ power) and are not getting replacement troops. I have not kept HQ near my troops and on roads to supply them. Is colored coded the only way to distinguish what HQ they belong to?

If you click on the OHQ unit and then Unit Admin, you can set the colour for the group. Well saturated colours really help them stand out.

Edit: Ignore me. I misunderstood your question

The slow way is to click on each unit it states in the lower bar what HQs it belongs too, OOB shows all your units but not in detail.

When clicking on a unit it will show the commander. Click "To HQ" will take you to the HQ. Nevermind[8|]

Just to be clear, units don't receive supplies from their Operational HQ units. If you've got a unit out-of-supply, moving their HQ closer to them will not help the problem. Operational HQ's provide bonuses to their formations based on the Commander's skill levels. They do no affect your supply lines in any way.

If you've got units out-of-supply, you need to ensure that they are within range of a road or rail hex that is connected to your SHQ. This is known as "Operational Logistics." You can view the operational logistics map overlay by pressing the 6 key. For more information, refer to section 4.5.9 of the manual (basics) or 5.10.7 and 5.10.8 (advanced).

Unit will have their border change to the color of the OHQ when selecting them, but the best way may be the OOB, as clicking on the unit will move the map and select the unit.

I do recommend changing HQ color to something bright that contrasts with that of neighboring HQs. I have a bright red HQ fighting next to a dark green HQ, for example.

I think one improvement would be making it more obvious when you click on a hqs unit which units belong to that hqs. The border does change color, but maybe that can be done in a way that is brighter or more obvious than it is now.

I would like to see a layer option to show a line to all subordinates of a HQ no matter which unit you choose. Also would like to see a range circle option on the HQ for effect range. Would be nice to have a key shortcuts that cycled just units in a OHQ, and a key that cycled though all the OHQs.

As was said, HQ's got nothing to do with supply or reinforcements. That is a thing between the SHQ and each unit seperately.
Supply is it's own topic. I wrote some things on the mater:

As for identification of the SHQ association? Pick distinct colors! Ideally they should be distinct towards the background as well. Color Coded for your convenience.

What range should units stay within to receive a commander bonus?

This is an excellent question. Alone you are not, in desire for this knowledge.

Twotribes -> RE: Keeping units near their HQ (6/28/2020 4:15:47 AM)

My units fight usually with in no more then 5 hexes and I get bonus, if they are farther apart they are usually helping some other group and wouldn't get it anyway.

Last time I measured it, I think it was 6. "As the crow flies", terrain seems to have 0 impact.

But when in doubt, just look at the Unit Bottom tab, HQ Power. If it is less then 100%, you are too far.

How do you select colors for your HQs?

Map screen, select OHQ unit, Unit Admin button (bottom button of orders bar), you'll see it.
