jmalter -> Aden / Abadan problems (6/29/2020 4:46:24 PM)

I am playing a DBB-B 'Hakko Ichio' campaign against the IJ AI, using Extended Maps & a 2-day cycle. 2 probs are showing at this area.

1) A minor prob at their 'Exit to on-map' boxes (hexes 16,2 & 38,2) - I can't click on these hexes to examine the TFs. Their tool-tip pop-ups appear normally.

2) A major prob occurs when TFs disband in Abadan. At the next orders-interval, those ships are anchored in Aden !

I dunno whether these flaws are part of the map file or the scenario file. Can anyone point me to info where I could edit the files to solve the probs?

The "b" in Abadan stands for "beam me up, Scotty" and the "d" in Aden stands for destination.

Sounds like you have the wrong map data file for the map artwork you are using. This can happen when you change to the extended map artwork but do not get the extended map data file. If you changed maps recently, you can tell if it is extended - it will have another island between Socotra and Karachi. Go back to where you got the map and find the data files. Save your current map data files somewhere before you replace them with the new ones.

Thank you for the advices, BBf.

I'm playing a sorta cobbled-together combo of a new load from the game CD, a d/l of beta update 1125 & some stuff
I had on a save-stick from my previous laptop.

The map shows a (functioning) base (Masirah @ 29,3) - is that the one you mean?

I will dig around in the dir tree for that map data file you mentioned, & compare it to the original d/l.

Should note that I had the same 'unclickable hexes' prob on my old setup, but this thing where ships are
disapparating from Abadan to Aden is new.

The extended map was developed by the DaBabes team - click this for details & downloads. Some user-developed map mods have piggybacked off their work, but you should at least start with the DaBabes map files to see if that clears up your problem.

Definitely follow Kull's advice.

Only the DaBabes family of mods is guaranteed to have a smoothly working extended map. Provided the relevant amended files have been correctly downloaded and installed. Problems with the extended map are always, without exception, due to faulty download/installation of the relevant files.

No need to change the artwork files, the data files for the map are what defines where the bases actually are. If you get the extended map data files they should work with any other set of art files that shows the new land masses. But also pay attention to the "stacking limits on every land hex/no additional stacking limits" flavours of the map.

Gotta give an appreciative "thank you" to y'all for your helpful responses - it's been a few years since I was active here, & it's great to see some familiar folks are still around & took a minute to help me out. Also I rec'd a drive-by strafing from a Gorn, which gave me a smile.

My interim solution (do not disband TFs in Abadan!) seems to be working for now, & I will (carefully, w/ back-ups) look into my map files.
