I bought some slaves but I don't have any idea what happened to them. Did they get added to my population or workers?

I think they get added to the population pool. If they were added to the workers, chances are they would be fired next turn anyway. Unless you had a really big shortage.

On a somewhat related note, did anyone figure out what exactly is the effect of the city policy option « Allow population to buy Free Folk »? I've never tried it. I suppose it maybe allows the private sector to buy Free Folk as slaves, but I've been wondering what are the effects.

It allows the private economy to buy Free Folk (pay them to move to the city to work in Private jobs).
I once had that and a big shortage of pop for private jobs empty my private economy's treasury. Totally in the negative. So I set it to disallow.
Thanks for the reminder btw, I should allow it now again :p

I have only seen it once. They just buy people and add them the to private pop and to private jobs. I usually don't have a problem with not having enough pop as it brings private income up usually needing your to rise worker's pay to compete and keep them happy.
Ill have to keep this in mind though might be an idea to get some of the pop that I want from the free folk who dont move in fast enough lol
