76mm -> Now what log problem?! (6/30/2020 7:45:18 PM)

Can someone pls explain to me why there are NO logistics on the road highlighted in red below? The view is "Current" logistics. The city to the top left is my capital. I kind of need logistics flowing along that road. Both cities have Level II truck bases.

This would mean there a 0 logistical points available because all that were allocated were spent during the supply process (whether for transferring Items between the zones and the SHQ, or sending supplies or reinforcements to the troops).

Initial Points and Used Points should confirm that, and the Bottlenecks filter display black on this road.

At least those are my assumptions.

Yup exactly what I'd say.

In addition there is a traffic sign from Hanson. Remember the logistics view ("L" button) are the points left over.

To get a quick view of the logistical situation always use the bottleneck view.

Because you used it all up!

This is not quantum physics. It is "Initial" minus "everything that costs logistics to move".
I am seriously confused why you are asking such a simple question with such a overly obvious answer [&:]

Yep, you probably used them all up - bottlenecks view should confirm. Suggest upgrading the truck bases or building rail. You probably also want to remove the traffic sign to the north in Hanson - it can't possibly be helping.

Thanks to everyone but zgrssd.

Regarding the traffic sign in Hanson--I don't want logistics flowing "backwards"--how does removing that traffic sign help? It seems like logistics should be flowing "out" from the center? Generally, why do I want logistics flowing in both directions?

All goods produced in your empire get sent back to the SHQ, so you'll always need some logistics flowing backwards. Or if you need to execute some crazy strategic moves, but that's pretty rare.

Why do you not want it to flow backwards?

If two lines meet, they add capacity allowing more stuff to go over the road.
You need as many trucks and traincars on the roads leading to and comming from the SHQ as nessesary to get everything in and out.
Who cares from which direction they come?

I guess I am just not understanding something about logistics.

The biggest problem seems to be units at the front running low on supplies; because all logistics are divided equally among all roads (without traffic signs), it seems like this approach is not going to help to get maximum supplies to the front--therefore, it seems like I should want most logistics flowing towards the front (with some allowance for stuff flowing back to SHQ), rather than some of them being diverted by running "backwards" towards the center. I just don't get it...

400-400 = 0
400+400 = 800
800-400 = 400

Hex by Hex, that is all that ever happened with Logistics.

There is no direction to LP. Don't think of them as trucks moving in a direction along a road. Think of them as the number of trucks that are assigned to that entire segment of road. If your units at the front aren't getting supplies, its probably because you don't have enough trucks assigned to the road that leads to the front.

You can fix this in two ways:

1. Build a bigger truck stop so that you have more trucks.
2. Use traffic signs so that fewer trucks are assigned to random side roads. Or even better, remove the random side roads entirely. Do remember that public assets like mines need at least 100 LP per turn (per level) to operate at full capacity.

You probably also want a lot of trucks assigned to the roads that go in-between your cities, because those are the roads that the SHQ uses to distribute construction material (which uses up a lot of trucks).

If Line 24 starts at A, moves to B and then comes back to A.
And Line 42 starts at B, moves to A and then comes back to B.

You want to get from B to A. You can obviously use both Line 24 and Line 42. You just pick wichever Busstop is more convenient or wichever one comes first. The capacities of both lines fully add.

It is the same as any other overlapping lines of Public Transports.
Only exceptions is that nobody moves until they have reserved seating for the entire lenght of the road and always reliably cancel their resvations or use it.

Zyphtan -> RE: Now what log problem?! (7/1/2020 6:18:22 PM)

You want all cities to be connected. Resources have to move back and forth. You need LP moving back to the SHQ so it doesn't need to use so many points to on that road. Ideally you want rail, helps alot. LP from two sources meet up and the lowest points between them is the total you can move through that line. You can see this when looking at current points and the yellow line is showing the max through that section.

It is a good idea to have lots of LP leaving your SHQ when you start taking over other zones not just your soldiers need food but all workers need it too. Any recruits and colonist take 5 points per and all resources need to be moved back. This can add up quickly and can really hurt you if you aren't prepared
