ydmatrix2 -> [1.04b1] Model design - negative Move Mod despite Engine Power > Weight? (7/3/2020 6:17:05 PM)

This attached design has Engine Design of 124, and Engine Power (800) > Weight (770).
Despite this, the final outcome has Move Mod of -5%.

In the design log, row 49 suggests it should have +5% Move Mod, but the next row refers to "Modified by Size and limitators" and reduces the Move Mod to a negative value.
Would like an explanation for this "Modified by Size and limitators" penalty.

Explanation:
It is a medium tank chassis. They are not overly fast, but not overly slow either.
-10% Movement penalty seems about right. Some things simply can not be handeled by increasing weight or reducing engine capacity alone.

Yeah this is actually a feature. Heavy tanks have even higher penalty and monitor's highest. Would be nice if this was actually documented somewhere

Absolutely, Documentation is needed. There is no indication what "Model Size" even does. And this one seems to be based on a high size (7).

In one post Vic mentioned that buggy size would be increased from 2 -> 3 to increase the armor cost since it can have more armor now. I guess it also affects cost multiplier for armor among any other things like LIS cost when upgrading and strategic moving

That change is already in 1.04beta1:
"-Buggy maximum 50mm armour now *
-Increased Buggy size from 2 to 3 to make cost for armour go up a bit*"

Not sure if buggies getting armor is really new, but in any way that the Callibre Calculation works now is new.
