Infierno -> Cannot connect a logistical network to neighboring region? (7/9/2020 3:35:00 AM)

Sorry if this is has been covered, but I've read similar threads like this one, and it didn't help: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4846302

Basically, I conquered the capital of a neighboring territory, turned it into a regular zone, built an SHQ on the conquered city, synced the new SHQ with the conquered zone, assigned a commander, and even built a truck station on the road at the edge of my capital region so I have a logistical network flowing into the new region.

However, no matter what I do, every hex in the new region is labelled "No logistical network to hex," even on a road hex that is clearly within logistical range because my units can literally receive supply in it. The only way I can continue building is if I use the "Zone Borders" tool to artificially change ownership of hexes to my capital zone, which is not ideal at all.

I seem to be doing something fundamentally wrong, but the UI gives me no clue at all as to what. I appear to have properly created an SHQ in the new territory and built a logistical network flowing into the new region.

What gives? What am I doing wrong?

OK, I built a "Supply Base" on the truck hex bordering the new region, and somehow that established a logistical network through the whole region.

Is the supply base the necessary key to the puzzle I was missing? Did I not need a truck station? I'm finding this rather baffling so any information is appreciated, though my issue is technically resolved....

Generally speaking, you shouldn't build a 2nd SHQ unless you have a very large empire (or it gets fractured somehow). A single SHQ can cover dozens of zones without a problem. Incorporating the zone is also not necessary for logistics purposes.

Considering that you could supply the hex by simply changing the zone assignment, this leads me to believe that the 2nd SHQ is causing your problems.

When you say "changing the zone assignment" I assume you mean assigning the zone back to the 1st SHQ? Because that didn't help, either. I had no way of building anything in the second region until I built the Supply Base in an adjacent hex in my capital region, which leads me to believe that the Supply Base was critical in expanding my logistics network, despite the fact that I already had a Truck Station in that hex and units in the adjacent road hex in the new region could be supplied.

Am I right there, or missing something about the logistical system?

Ahh, my mistake. I would need to see a picture to have a better idea how to help.

One tool that I often use to diagnose logistics issues is the "preview points" overlay, hotkey P. It shows the expected logistics points generated at the start of your next turn.

I had this problem (it seemed to be a problem if you conquered a city resulting in its zone getting split). It resolved itself after a couple of turns. I *think* the trigger for resolving it was a logistic building being upgraded but may have just been time.

If its in 1.04, you may want to report it as a bug.

Thanks for the tip. Re-reading the manual section on Supply Bases and Truck Stations, it sounds like you effectively need both of them in your supply chain to extend where you need to build things. Either that, or there was something going on in the conquered region which prevented my supply network from functioning. There was very little unrest, but that it was recently conquered may have been the issue?

EDIT - Talqazar's post seems to corroborate this might have been a bug. Let's see if I still have a save from when the bug happened...

Infierno -> RE: Cannot connect a logistical network to neighboring region? (7/9/2020 5:20:52 AM)

OK, so I found an earlier save and have been testing building truck stations and supply bases in separate orders. I've determined the problem was that my supply network didn't reach the capital of the newly conquered region, and required both a Supply Base and Truck Station due to the distance, thus I couldn't build anything in the region as it didn't have its own logistical network set up yet.

Anyways, that's my understanding. This seemed to be user error, not a bug. [:'(]

Nice job. It's a tough nut to crack at first, but it gets a lot easier. Be warned, though, that there are some big changes coming in the next patch
