Here's a RAND study available in *.pdf format, on aircraft carrier options for the USN moving forward. Some interesting stuff here and CMO Aircraft Ready Time whiners might observe that the official target of 120-sorties per 12-hours of operations has never been achieved on operations by any Nimitz Class carrier. Sadly facts can never stop the whining though but there is much in the study to digest.

That is quite the read. Haven't worked my way through all of it yet but it is interesting. Probably a review that has happened once a generation, major changes like the move to nuclear power, uniform air wings etc were likely spurred by pondering such as this.

I feel out of pace for not having a black cat as my Avatar [:D]
