SchnelleMeyer -> Remastered COI information? (7/31/2020 7:14:53 AM)

Any information on the Installer v3.06.02 uploaded on 23.July Titled COI remaster?

SchnelleMeyer -> RE: Remastered COI information? (7/31/2020 9:51:19 AM)

So I see COI is now released on Steam, so this remaster is similar to the TLD/WAR releases with regards to its updates?

arnhem1944 -> RE: Remastered COI information? (8/1/2020 9:34:30 AM)

Cheers

Pip

Hi Arnhem1944 -- have you been able to run the game at all?

Please try the following to help us figure out where the problem is:

Check to see if you have a folder "My Games/CloseCombatCrossOfIron" under your Windows Documents folder.

Try going to the install directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\Close Combat - Cross of Iron\ and double-clicking CCE.EXE directly to launch the game without running the launcher.

If running the CCE.EXE directly does not work, try holding down the CTRL key while running CCE.EXE and see if this brings up the game options dialog box. If so, go to the general options and try setting the game to use 'Framed Window' and pick 800x600 screen resolution. Click 'Ok' to try to launch the game.

Thanks!

arnhem1944 -> RE: Remastered COI information? (8/6/2020 6:05:20 AM)

Hi!
Installation folder is present in documents! pressing CTRL and CCE.EXE dont bring up the option dialog, only a lot off error reports in
maintenance folder...strange this is the only game that wont install

SteveMcClaire -> RE: Remastered COI information? (8/6/2020 3:23:44 PM)

Ok - there should be a file OPTIONS.TXT in your Documents\My Games\CloseCombatCrossOfIron\ folder. Please open it with notepad (or another text editor) and set PlayVideos=FALSE, ScreenX=800, and ScreenY=600. Then close and save Options.txt and try to run the game again.

Tejszd -> RE: Remastered COI information? (8/10/2020 2:15:57 AM)

The new installer is ~220MB smaller in size.

I assume the original Close Combat 3: The Russian Front battles/campaign/ops along with the required maps were removed like CC4 from WAR and CC5 from TLD for the update?

Edit:

Installed this new version and it adds the same options as the last TLD/WAR/LSA versions for scaling;
Scale Front End
Scale UI
Use DPI

Having said that COI does have an advantage over the later releases as the Infantry and vehicles were drawn at 2 different sizes. Clicking the + to zoom in doubles the map size, every dot is duplicated, and uses the larger infantry and vehicles. It is unfortunate that the later releases didn't include the option now but when CC3 came out monitors were not very high resolution so nobody used the feature. It was frustrating seeing your men die and not see who was shooting.....

arnhem1944 -> RE: Remastered COI information? (8/11/2020 10:37:30 AM)

Have installed it on my work computer with another setup off antivirusprogram and other programs, and the same
crash occurs. Now i can conclude its not my computer with prior installations, something else is wrong here?

SteveMcClaire -> RE: Remastered COI information? (8/11/2020 3:23:15 PM)

Hi arnhem1944 - please try the steps I posted above:

There should be a file OPTIONS.TXT in your Documents\My Games\CloseCombatCrossOfIron\ folder.

Open OPTIONS.TXT with notepad (or another text editor) and set PlayVideos=FALSE, ScreenX=800, and ScreenY=600. Then save and close Options.txt and try to run the game again.

Thanks!

How do I install mods with this new version? The Modswap program has been removed from the install.. - Can it still be downloaded from somewhere?

The updated Cross of Iron now supports the /D switch, so you don't need mod swap for mods anymore. I'll post modswap here on the forums for backward compatibility though.

Tejszd -> RE: Remastered COI information? (8/13/2020 4:59:04 PM)

/D switch for mods is good news!

A post about the new COI version being available with a list of changes/enhancements would be good for current or potential new game owners....

SchnelleMeyer -> RE: Remastered COI information? (8/13/2020 6:33:00 PM)

Thanks Steve! That /D switch is really an upgrade.

arnhem1944 -> RE: Remastered COI information? (8/17/2020 10:34:08 AM)

Still dont work:-(
Strange if i would be the only one affected with this issue?
Because its the same error at both my home computer and at my work computer...
This is on Windows 10

Hmmm. If you're willing to try a debug version I will send you one and then I can look at the output to try and help pin point the problem. I will PM you with details if you can help us out with this. Thanks!

arnhem1944 -> RE: Remastered COI information? (8/18/2020 1:34:45 PM)

Okey! I want to fix this..

SteveMcClaire -> RE: Remastered COI information? (8/18/2020 3:34:51 PM)

Thank you. PM Sent.

SteveMcClaire -> RE: Remastered COI information? (8/19/2020 10:37:47 PM)

arnhem1944 -- also, if you have more than one monitor on your system, please try temporarily changing it to single monitor only and see if Cross of Iron starts. We're trying to narrow down the possible cause of the issue and this would help. Thanks!

arnhem1944 -> RE: Remastered COI information? (8/23/2020 2:48:49 PM)

Hi! I have sent the log to your email you gave me...and about your last question i have only used it
on one monitor..
