Manteuffel2894 -> Best and worst scenario and campaign for sp (8/4/2020 4:28:28 AM)

As the title says i want to know what is the best and worst scenario, thinking on historifal feeling, inmersión and AI behavior. I have read that ai could be challenging or easy depending on the background so i want to have a detailed explanation. I want to know your list of scenarios guys

I think it depends on your expectations. If you are playing fairly casually I would say the AI only badly struggles as the Axis in 1941. So if you want to play Soviets it is better to stick to 1942 onwards. But other than that if you are taking it easy it will give you an enjoyable game in most campaigns/scenarios.

If you are playing with a bit more care and 'ruthlessness' I'd say that in general the AI is better on the defensive than on the offensive and does better with less mobile warfare (it doesn't do well making pockets on the offensive and even on the defensive has a tendency to 'stick its neck in the noose' of pockets). So I guess that in terms of campaigns it is better to start in 42 with either side. One thing to remember is that you can swap sides so potentially you could do a campaign where you run the Axis offensive in 42 and then swap to the Soviets from 43 onwards and try and turn the tide.

In terms of scenarios the Stalingrad one is interesting as the Axis as the Soviet AI has a scripted first turn that, as per history, leaves you in deep do-do. So despite the AI's offensive limitations you are up against it just through force of circumstance. I've not played the Typhoon scenario vs AI but I'd imagine if you beefed up the AI settings that could be quite fun also with all the weather changes.

With the smaller (sub 15 turn) scenarios I've had a lot of fun playing left hand v right hand. They are also a good 'halfway house' if you are thinking of playing a human opponent but don't have the time to play a full campaign.

Man, what about when ai has offensive but full resources superiority like soviets at bagration or oder offensive. It puts a good challenge?

Yeah, from a gameplay perspective certainly it'll give you a challenge, especially if you turn up the AI settings. Although I'm not sure the AI would be able to keep up the operational tempo required to win on victory conditions.

No, not if you want a good game.

Why?

Because AI performs poorly in the scn of Bagration, despite having material advatages.
