I'm not allowed to post pictures.

It's the little circle with a dot in the middle. I mostly see them next to anchor icons, but sometimes they're by themselves and sometimes anchor icons don't have them.

Yeah, I always thought it maybe an oversight that the page in the manual that explains map icons neglects to tell you there is a minefield right there in the picture.

The Task Forces carry the Icon as well.

If you have Good Screen Resolution you can see the Colors.

One thing you might run into is varying colours for the mine symbol. By shifting the map view left and right I have seen a minefield symbol use every country colour in the game. It might be an anomaly related to need for a restart to fix bleeding memory issues.
It can be disconcerting to see an enemy coloured minefield on one of your ports, assume it was laid by a sub, and spend several turns trying to sweep it! [:D]
