went back to my turn save before finishing my move Wed night and it shows Japan lost 19 planes vs 39 China; armor Japan lost 29 vs 22 from China. Plus China lost 208 partisans and both sides lost lots of infantry & guns. Due to fuel Japan refrained from building much beyond infantry/arty, or just didn't move the navy/air reserves it built.

Bureau of Logistics Staff notes 1st April 1940 The world is abuzz over the changes in Soviet leadership. There have been changes in the defensive posture in the West and East. Coordination between the Soviets and France and Britain have improved. The Axis powers are showing more signs of activity, but have not attacked yet. The Italians have taken over in Bulgaria, and the Germans control Romanian forces. The Russo-German front is very long and advanced far to the east. The USSR demanded that Afghanistan concede, and it did. This gained the Soviets only the production of Kabul as the armed forces disbanded. May Day celebrations are being planned. They will be tension filled with the Barbarians at the Gates.

Bureau of Logistics Staff notes 29th April 1940 Both France and Great Britain are hamstrung by the logistic restrictions put in place by the government to avoid lighting the Axis fuse. The KM has ships at sea, as the RN reported. We must expect U-boat raiders and KM surface forces on our supply lines. The same certainly applies to the possible conflict with the Japanese in the Far East. If war comes it will depend on extensive supplies of fuel as the ships, planes, and tanks are thirsty. General Staff Situation 27 May 1940 Political restraints have prevented the alliance of France and Great Britain. The two militaries are struggling with logistic constraints that make no sense. The breakdown of the alliances with the Soviet Union seem to have put out a welcome sign to War. On the other side the Axis nations are united, making joint war plans. The ominous signs of war are everywhere. The complete subjugation of China and the long buildup of German and Italian arms has left the West and the Soviets preparing for a massive blow. The United States is weak, and she seems to be mired in isolationism. The coming of war seems almost a relief.

Thank you cpdeyoung for these updates. As the neutral USA I see nothing that is going on as far as troops movements are considered. And my isolation is a mystery to me...(don't know how strong the isolation is at this time). My production is at 40% so it stinks and it is holding back any improvements I want to make in my preparedness for possible involvement in war.

War started. Salute to the Russian 4th Med Tank - should be awarded guard status for fending off repeated attacks before finally retreating with only 1 company of tanks left and then managed to fend off another attack before finally retreating again. Extremely bloody for the Reich. Cannot afford such losses. On the bright side, Czech went to Japan so all the Germans surrounding there can finally move to the fronts.

General Staff Situation 24 June 1940 War has come to the world, but not for France or Great Britain. The alliance issues and logistical problems thus continue. Germany, and only Germany, has attacked the USSR. Germany has full alliances with Italy and Japan, who stand on either side of the belligerent ready to come to her support if we declare war. A DoW by either Great Britain or France on any Axis nation would allow us to ally, but this would not give immediate succor to the Soviets as all Axis nations have ample naval interdiction assets available. France has asked the Soviets for an alliance which would allow some aid from the French to the USSR. Britain has not yet asked for such an alliance. The French and British did an awful job of diplomacy, and the Axis did very well. Germany controls all of Central Europe. Japan not only controls Persia, but she gained Czechoslovakia which she gave some of to Germany. Japan has reduced China to rubble. Japanese fleets have been seen transiting the Indian Ocean. Without a counterbalance from China Japan is a huge threat. Italy has a serious presence on the French border, and we suspect her Regia Marina is built out. America is handicapped by such a long period of "peace" penalties. She has a huge amount of catching up to do. Ridding herself of isolationism will still take an unknown amount of time. The Axis is stronger than we ever anticipated. This will be a very hard war, when it comes to us.

General Staff Situation 19 August 1940 The West is at peace, but but wondering what that means in a world with such a huge conflict going on. static but bloody with hundreds of losses each turn and the same hexes flip back and forth between the two... Your French being allied can probably see some of it...

General Staff Situation December 1940 While the war rages between the Germans and the Soviet Union, the French and British get ready for what seems an inevitable war. Diplomacy seems stalled as both coalitions vie for Denmark/Norway and Benelux. The southeastern coast of England is filled with airfields to aid in the defense of the Low Countries and France when the day comes. The Royal Navy happens upon U-boats in the North Atlantic and there is little question they are there to threaten supply lines. In the Pacific the seas are thick with submarines of the IJN, USN, and RAN. The life of a merchant mariner will not be pleasant when the balloon goes up. The Axis is impressively strong, and we have not yet been tested. We are not deliberately watching the Axis and Soviets battle to step in and pick up the pieces. The Axis is the real threat to our wellbeing. Going to war with them presents difficulties. We support the Soviet side, though there is not a lot we can do to help them. We would welcome the abandonment of isolationism by the United States. It would give our three separate nations more power and influence in troubled times.

My last report on Isolationism shows that I have 21 (Twenty-one) turns until I break it's grip. Occasionally lobbying works so keep it up. As I think this is all that will break my isolationism until Japan, Italy or Germany does something to make my entry into the war quicker. I don't know if the Axis nations are also lobbying but I expect that they are doing so. I am at 40% peace (isolationism) penalty to making things for my military--including Political Points.
