Turn 8. Nov/Dec 1940. US Entry.

1. FDR able to get is gear up production bill through congress.
2. This does cause some international tension as a 3-value chit is moved from German/Italian entry to tension pool.

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. Resource Lending/Grants.

1. Free France continues to offer her 1 non-oil RP to Great Britain.
2. The US continues to give 3 oil to Great Britain per turn, which she's saving in Canada.
3. German increases her aid to Italy from 3 to 5 non-oil RPs per turn.

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. CWAKE (Combat Log Tally, Weather Actions, Key Events)

1. Neither side had an advantage for the initiative. The allies won the first roll, the axis chose not to re-roll and the allies elected to move second.
2. Brutal weather over Europe and in the Med this turn didn't stop naval action in the Atlantic and the Med.
3. Fine weather in the north monsoon allowed normal combat operations in southern China (i.e., Yamomoto's IJA army group vs Nationalist).
4. A total of 24 combats were logged, the majority of which (19) were naval.

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. Battle of the Atlantic. Combat Logs.

Axis #1.
1. Major naval air and sub battle in Bay of Biscay. German u-boats sink 800,000 tons of allied convoys and force another 200,000 tons to abort their mission.

Allied #4.
1. Brits reinforce ASW patrols and escorts in the Bay of Biscay. However allied shipping losses rise to 1.2 millions tons!

Axis #7.
1. Axis subs sink more British convoys! Situation Dire. 1.8 million tons of shipping sunk this turn alone. Another 0.6 million tons this turn have been force to abort their mission.

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. Battle of the Atlantic.

1. Great Britain took tremendous shipping losses in the Bay of Biscay this turn and is now forced to route convoys so as to avoid that sea area.
2. Great Britain's war time production impacted by merchantmen losses but will be mitigated somewhat by stockpiled (oil) resources in Great Britain.

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. Western Front. Combat Logs.

Axis #11.
1. Italian naval air raid CW merchantmen preparing to sail from Liverpool. While the port strike did no major damage it did prevent 200,000 of 400,000 tons from being able to sail this turn in an attempt to replace some of the losses to axis subs this turn.

Allied #14.
1. RN wins a major naval victory in the North Sea.
2. 2 German heavy cruisers sunk (Admiral Hipper and Blucher). Sadly the RN loses the battleship Royal Oak and sees the battleship Barham damaged.

rkr1958 -> RE: By the Numbers: Another Solo Global War AAR (8/23/2020 6:19:25 PM)

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. Western Front.

Partisans.
1. Brazen French partisan unit seizes control of a coal mine in northeast France, disrupting 1 PP of axis war production.

Competitive.
1. No matter how well you think you've covered an occupied country it never hurts to take a second look. I though I had all the critical hexes in France either garrisoned by or in the zoc of an unit. I overlooked this RP and sure enough a French partisan popped up and was placed on the uncovered RP.
2. Also, I taught myself a lesson I already knew but hadn't quickly enough to apply. That is, once France falls and the axis have access to the west coast of France, it's generally not good for the allies to attempt to route convoys through the Bay of Biscay. A lesson I as the Brits learned painfully hard again this turn.
3. Look at the strong RN naval forces in the 0 and 3 boxes of the Bay of Biscay. Even with a commitment of this magnitude German and Italy were able to inflict significant losses on British convoys in this sea area this turn.

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. The Med. Combat Logs.

Allied #9.
1. RN Naval Victory in the Western Med.
2. 2 Italian capital ships heavily damaged.
3. RN gains uncontested control of the Med except off the Italian coast.

rkr1958 -> RE: By the Numbers: Another Solo Global War AAR (8/23/2020 6:28:07 PM)

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. The Med. North Africa.

1. Wavell's 8th army closes the noose on the remaining Italian forces left in North Africa.
2. Weather too bad to launch the final assault for Tripoli.
3. Only a matter of time before Tripoli falls and all of Libya controlled by the Commonwealth.
4. "Neutral" Vichy France brazenly runs convoys past the RN in the Med.

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. East Africa.

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. China/Asia. Combat Logs.

Axis #1.
1. Massive bombing raids by Japan fail to disrupt Chinese war production.

Axis #7.
1. Another Japanese bombing raid on Chinese production fails.
2. Yamamoto's IJN army group continue their battle of attrition and advance against Nationalist forces in the Kwangsi providence.

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. End of Turn. Scrapped (To-Date). Allied.

Script.
1. Just on the general principal of it all I scrap all named ships that are sunk.
2. Note that the named ships lost this turn are still in the destroyed pool but will shortly join the pool of scrapped units.

Competitive.
1. With Operation Barbarossa getting closer, I need to revisit lend lease to the Soviets. Specifically, long(er) range US fighters.

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. US Entry.

Competitive
1. The US selected no additional options this turn and will not until the necessary entry and tension levels to, "Pass War Appropriations Bill", which will immediately increase their production multiplier from 0.5 to 0.75.
2. If the US could get the necessary level and tension next turn if they get lucky. Though, unless the axis are careless, it's likely to be two turns before they can pass this option.
