Ambassador -> LCS(L) as LCI(G) type (8/18/2020 10:39:00 AM)

So, I guess everyone knows that LCI(G) may be included in an Amphib TF, but LCS(L) don't. I haven't read any explanation on that difference, so my take is that at some point in the development, LCS(L) were included, but were initially thought of as the Fairmile H family of small crafts (the Mk1 or Mk2), for which it makes sense to be included in barge/landing craft TF but not in Amphib TF.

So, if I want to allow LCS(L) (Mk3, depicted in the game) in Amphib TF, and change their type to LCI(G), are there any unforeseen consequences ?

Thanks by advance,

Lionel

What scenario are you talking about Lionel?

I can't say I have paid too much attention - I don't put the tiny little barge types that you build out of supplies, in amph assault TFs with 100 ship limits- they are too small, and you need to bigger craft to load up those marines.

LCI(G) are gun ships that suppress shore fire, IIRC.

Anyway, I suggest you change them to the same class as the Empire Battleaxe etc- which is probably akin to an APA.

I assume there is a different FUNCTION for the LCI(G). That is, it isn't a landing craft any more, but
a gunfire support type. Joe Wilkerson's rule applies: Test, test, test. MAYBE you can add troops and cargo
and they will land. To be realistic, however, these peculiar LCI(G) should have NO large guns. I would mark
it in the name of each vessel by some code to tell players they are not really LCI(G). Maybe name them ILC followed
by a number.
