Could anyone please advise me what are the meanings of the following suffixes against some US ground Force types?

There appears to be the letter a , or the letter n , or what is either a star or a very small w.

So, a like in HQa? that would be an Air HQ
HQn would be a Naval HQ.
HQc would be a Corps HQ

An * means it can be combined with other units to form a larger unit.
