greenmoray1 -> Carriers and turn info (9/28/2020 9:37:53 AM)

Hello I'm new to this game but I do understand ....how to move troops, make TF, transfer units , change pilots, build fortifications etc,set air units to search or attack, and transfer cargo, troops etc, understand a few screens....overall not much. My 4 questions are about: carriers at start, red letters and transfers, when to adjust air and TF ships after turn 1., and lastly clockwise arcs searches required in order for air units to be sent out for missions? Below are details discussing these 4 questions. Wish I could do this in shorter words. When I start the game on Dec.8 Quiet China: 1/ There are no carriers in Pearl harbor naturally.I can find my CV carriers when I look at the all active ships screen and it says the CV combat air TF is based in Pacific fleet.I see that it is in an already formed task force at sea (I guess by the computer)but I cannot really do anything with them as I would a task force that I make and have some control over. Is the computer just controlling this, because I do not see where I can control it.Can anyone explain this? This is referring to the first turn of the game where I start at Pearl harbor. 2/When I do find the carrier Saratoga in the US west coast (SD or SF)and I make a task force that says air combat, every time when I make the TF with either the computer or my own selections the numbers turn red when attempting to transfer the air combat to Pearl harbor. With destroyers is there some rule as to how far they can go? I end up just trying to get my carrier out to sea from the west coast but with no protective cover.Even when I reduce it to 2 destroyers ....they still turn red numbers from west coast to Pearl harbor. Do I have to use the patrolling points instead of declaring a definite destination hex (in this case Pearl harbor) Nowhere on you tube have I seen this explained.Can someone explain why? and numbers turning red.....I have an idea why somewhat as I can see that fuel consumption, space, and distance may be why these numbers are red. What my goal is ....is to send my combat air TF towards Midway via patrolling points near Pearl harbor ...but future hex I want Midway ...or Wake...not 100% sure.....of anything:) HOW do I do that with a carrier air combat from the first few turns? Or is this not possible? 3/On the 2nd turn of the beginning of the campaign do I need to set the air and ground units with new orders ex: naval search, arcs, or will everything that I set on turn 1 just continue to carry out the missions I set on turn 1? With ground troops I can see distance traveled to the destination hex, but what about air and my TF ship movements. How many turns if I set options to turn 1 do I need to go before I re-set or change/ adjust my air and ships again. I spent about 12 hours just doing TF ship and setting air units and clicking on a bunch of things. Can anyone explain this? Again I haven't seen this on videos. Can I just hit end turn again a couple more times and let things play out without changing anything? speaking especially about air units....can you set them and they will just continue the orders you gave them? Ex: level bomber ASW set 30, search 50, train 20, rest 10 with the clockwise arcs set. 4/Under patrolling air units, is it required to set clockwise arcs when sending out air unit missions or can I just set the percentages like naval search 50, ASW 30 etc....and leave arcs at nothing? Will the air units still go do the other functions I set regardless? I believe these questions are clear and I would appreciate it if I can get some clear answers on this forum rather than a brief response to say ...your answers are on videos in you tube. Everyone says this forum is very helpful. I need to the help from the forum not a referral. The referral makes me searching through a lot of you tube footage ....and I have already watched and learned from G raider thank you G Raider ....and Pete...Please answer this in the forum. I have also gone through the manual....mainly a reference ...but found no answers to my questions. Thank you....I really like this game I appreciate any assistance.
