c3k -> [Answered] Database Rebuild/Deep-Rebuild Question (9/29/2020 11:58:24 AM)

I've read the manual and searched the forum. But, I have a question...

Let's say I build a scenario where I want my submarine to have just ONE torpedo.

The database that I used was "DB borked".

DB Borked makes torpedoes explode in their launch tubes.

So...I decide to rebuild my database with the latest, "DB fixed". (Shallow Rebuild)

Great, now the torpedo works as advertised. But, the developers have made a lot of improvements to the game. Now, I need to do a deep rebuild to gain those improvements (and bug fixes, etc.). I do a Deep Rebuild.

Here's the problem: the Deep Rebuild now fills my submarine's magazines. It now has 24 torpedoes instead of just 1. My scenario is now an unbalanced dog.

What steps are required to take my original "DB Borked", 1 torpedo on-board, scenario and make it an updated "DB fixed" Deep Rebuild, 1 torpedo on-board scenario?

(And, before you say, just use the editor to adjust the SS Minnow's loadout, I have dozens of fleets, all with tweaked magazines to reflect the status I want. Let alone all the aircraft that have partially expended stores. ;) )

Thanks,

Ken

I think you are looking for the delta template function. It takes the existing unit configurations, compares it to standard, then generates an ini file with just the differences. Then use that ini file during the deep rebuild.

There is an entire section on it the manual that does a fairly good job of describing it. Starts around pg 215.

"Delta Template: exports the delta (difference) between
platform configurations in the scenario and those in the
database."

I think thats what you are looking for. I use it all the time in my scenarios.

Thanks!

Off to read up on it...

If you feel brave, you can also modify the XML file directly and use a copy paste. But I would start with the delta templates.
