VictorH -> Matrix vs. Talonsoft (9/24/2000 4:41:00 AM)

I justed posted the following on Talnosofts Message Board: “I am disappointed with the actions recently taken by Talonsoft in regards to Matrix games and Frank Hunters Napoleonic Game. Waiting until this point in the production cycle to "stick it to" Matrix was unconscionable on the part of Talonsoft. If Talonsoft truly supports the wargame community why release the recent children’s games I have seen? I have purchased every wargame produced by Talonsoft with two exceptions(Age of Sail & COWF). If Talonsoft supports the wargame community, why not cheer the efforts of other wargame developers. We all know, the more there are, the better the games and AI we the purchasers will see. Unfortunately, Talonsoft has taken the short term approach to profit. Well, I am one wargamer who will not stand by and watch this behavior. I have decided that no matter if Talonsoft were the last wargame producer on the planet, I will no longer buy ANY games from them. Adios Amigos!” If there is anything more I can do to help out with the cause let me know. I'd be happy to offer my programming experience and 20+ years of wargaming experience at no cost! I want to take Talonsoft DOWN! Viva Matrix! It's time to man the ramparts gentlemen.

A programmer!!! Many others have expressed similiar sentiments as yours Victor, on various threads. Why not go to the topic "Matrix's Surviving Won at http://www.matrixgames.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000073.html and post any ideas or comments you might have? Joe Osborne of Matrix Games has been reading and commenting on whats being posted there, it would make it easier for the folks at Matrix to find and read similiar postings if they were all in one spot. ------------------ understanding requires patience Grok

Check out the Art of Wargaming board, there, some of us immigrantes from the evil Talonsoft/Take 2 Empire (OPART Talonsoft Message Board) have taken refuge. The air is thick with hatred of Talonsoft there.

I agree that TS, in the form of Ashton has not been acting in a manner that would suggest a dedicated gamer and professional, and when censorship of expression in a public forum takes place it usually bodes no good. So I can certainly understand the anger that prevails over the former members of the TS message board. But I ask...why not turn part of that anger towards a more constructive course? If you feel that the folks at Matrix after doing so much, for nothing, are deserving of a little help then come to http://www.matrixgames.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000073.html and join us in coming up with suggestions and/or comment on the previous posts. If enough people become involved then we can help the guys at Matrix continue doing what they do best...making GREAT games! ------------------ understanding requires patience Grok [This message has been edited by Grok (edited September 24, 2000).]

I've been following the thread, though not posting on it. I'm not eactly a cash factory, but I'd be willing to put down 25$ to support matrix. They've already given me two free games and WiP comming soon. Matrix is the best thing to come to Wargames since the orginal TOAW.

Hi Steve Do continue checking that thread, but if you have any suggestions to add...please do! No one is asking for money at this point, we are just tossing some ideas around, and anyone can join in...its FREE ------------------ understanding requires patience Grok

Idea for all these guys that want to contribute. How about a stock offering. Anyone that wants to financially support Matrix could buy some stock. It would not be taxable income to Matrix and if in the end Matrix does not make a go of it you have a tax write off. I see it as a win, win situation.

An excellent idea! Of course the problem with a public stock is a hostile tackover by the "evil empire" as you guys have labeled it :>)
