Werewolf13 -> Link my Steam Account? (10/22/2020 6:22:12 PM)

A little background. I own a bunch of Matrix games. About 2/3 of them I bought on STEAM. I like the way steam does updates. Fire and forget, pretty much. With Matrix it is a manual process. I have to grab the update files from the members area and do a manual install. The check for updates process fails when it finds an update that needs to be done with a fail to dl FTP file. (support can't figure out why this is the one time I got them involved).

So other than a practically invisible file update process with Steam is there any other benefit to linking my steam account with my Matrix account?

Well, I'm sure you know, that a Matrix Purchase gets a free Steam key.

But a Steam purchase has no connection to Matrix.

The auto install is indeed nice. I occasionally use it when feeling lazy. Not all my Steam games are Matrix, so it's unavoidable, I usually have Steam installed.

Matrix really shines, in that it allies zero internet activity once purchased. So an offline computer isn't a problem. I currently have my main rig, and my mainly wargaming rig. The latter is not always online.

But, to answer your question, you can't really link a Steam purchase to here to begin with. So there's no 'practical' to begin with as well.

You make some very good points especially about not being tied to the internet with Matrix Games. And your thought triggered a thought of mine. Steam when loaded eats up almost a gig of RAM. Depending on how much RAM one has that 1 gig could matter (that's about 6% for me, and I've got software that can use up around 12 and that's cutting it pretty close). Steam not loaded; save a gig of RAM for more important things.

So...
Thanks for the info. Don't think I'll be linking my Matrix account to STEAM.

That said: It would be interesting to hear from Matrix on the subject.

I think -so called- liberals become fascists about Steam [:)]. Let's Matrix games be more in Steam for more international community. Don't only judge your price but think about who can buy and join your community internationally. I believe it will improve your community and gamers.

How does this persist? It's entirely untrue unless you are playing an online game of some sort. Every game I have on Steam can be played without an internet connection except for a game that has an MMO requirement. [8|]

I have deleted or moderated a number of posts. Consider this a warning. The rules are very clear.

Interesting. I merely reply to what someone posted point out that there is no difference and my post gets moderated but their post does not.

What is also interesting is where someone can keep calling me a Nazi with no proof what-so-ever and no moderator steps in.

One was an obvious joke, on the line for sure. Yours was a clearly incendiary statement. I won't be debating moderation.

I can't comment on some other post that I have not seen. If it is in a different forum then bring it to the attention of the moderator. Or raise it in a PM with one of the board mods.

Cheers

Pip
