There was this thread that got locked the other day... I need not name it. My interest is just the answer to this question: Can the IJ change the day/turn rate in a live PBEM game? I'm not vested either way, I actually think it could be agreeable to both players under certain circumstances.

I've seen at least one AAR where the players did it (not sure of the mechanics).

It is indeed possible. There was a post 5 or 6 years ago where they explained how.

Just checked and it still working in 11.26b. Normally the option is greyed out in PBEM, but you can get it to work quite easy.

Yes, and its usually done to accommodate Japanese R&D which gets a bit wonky when planes come online. Its has to do with whether they go to production or advance to the next R&D model.
