pjg100 -> Demoralized about morale (11/6/2020 2:40:36 AM)

I know I'm grousing here, but still . . . it really chaps my cheeks that you can lose NM - sometimes a lot of it - when your opponent takes a NM city, but you regain none of it when you take it back. I'm facing that situation now, playing Axis, got myself into a self-inflicted pickle in China and was forced to give the Chinese an opening to walk into Wuhan as the lesser of two evils. Was surprised at the effect that had on Chinese and JA NM, although I shouldn't have been. Now I am going to have to wait until early 1942 to get my NM back up to a respectable level, even though I am likely to retake Wuhan long before then. That's not just an Axis concern. In WiE a few years ago, playing Allies, I bailed out of Egypt and made a stand in Iraq, from which I fought my way back into Egypt and then took the rest of North Africa over the course of about a year. However, my NM at the end of that campaign remained stubbornly the same as it was when I was hunkered down in Baghdad plotting my comeback - 81%. Seems that when I retook Cairo and Alexandria, I should have recovered some of that NM. Anyway, now that that is off my chest, I’ll go back to playing the darn game.
