Gilber -> Tunis Supply (11/10/2020 11:54:48 AM)

I think there is a problem in the calculation of supply in North Africa;
if the axis takes Tunis to France although Tunis is a secondary depot, the cities connected (sousse) to it have a supply of 3.
It seems to me that being connected to a secondary depot the supply level should be 5.[&:]

Is Malta occupied by your forces?

Gilber -> RE: Tunis Supply (11/11/2020 8:57:19 AM)

Malta is still UK. What could this have to do with Malta?

Has it just been captured, i.e. suffered from scorched earth?

thank you for your prompt response,[:)]

in fact there is no scorched earth since the city belongs to France and scorched earth is on Liberation (not on invasion) for France and to make sure I let 1 turn in order to see if the supply level goes up. but no, it's still at 3.

Thanks for the turn and while Tunis is a Secondary supply center, it doesn't act as a supply providing source for any connected resources in that pocket because it is considered occupied and France has not yet surrendered.

For Tunis itself, because it is a Secondary supply center, it will have a supply value of 5, even though it is occupied, but again, it won't provide additional supply to connected resources inside that particular pocket.

However, once France surrenders, then Tunis would act like a normal secondary supply center to the German occupier thus providing supply within that pocket, e.g. if that pocket still existed for any reason after a French surrender.

Hope this helps,
Hubert

What happens to supply from Tunis if the Allies declare war on Vichy Tunisia and capture Tunis while France itself is still occupied by the Axis? My expectation is that since it is a Secondary Supply Center, it would provide a base supply of 5, and that other towns in Tunisia will also provide a supply level of 5 if also recaptured by the Allies. Is this correct?

Bill, Hubert,

thank you for your explanations.[:)]

If you open the route to Tripoli the situation will improve.

If I understand your question correctly, the situation that Gilber found himself would not apply as in your example as Vichy Tunisia would be a separate country at that point in the game and in terms of game logic has nothing to do anymore with France, e.g. it would be no different from invading Portugal etc. Gilber's situation was an example of Tunis actually being part of what is in game considered French territory/country (1939) as France had not yet surrendered and the French country/territory had not yet been divided up.

Tunis, when it is a part of the new country in game considered Vichy Tunisia, is not even a secondary supply center anymore, it is a capital and normal supply rules for capturing a country and its capital would apply.

Hope this helps,
Hubert

It does - many thanks. It is good to understand why my supply (having now captured independent Vichy Tunis) is at 5 - I had not appreciated that it was now a Capital, not Secondary Supply Center.
