Akira Kurosawa's [B]Dreams[/B] has a scene of a returning Japanese soldier at the end of WW2. Everyone in his unit had been killed. He had to explain to them that they were dead.
Very poignant scene.

Yes, I liked going through the tunnel as an image of surviving the war. Unfortunately like the Germans, the Japanese deserved everything that happened to them.

So in that regard, you could say that the Germans deserved to conquer most of Europe - it did happen to them after all...

I think he meant that, like the Germans, the Japanese were aggressive barbarians who richly deserved the sound thrashing that they got.
