Chris0War -> Question regarding atomics (11/16/2020 6:16:37 PM)

Hey,

so i'm about to start war but my measly opp has a couple of nuclear missile launchers waiting for me, does anyone have some documents lying around if, how and in what kind of range ( 200 km's is enough right ? ) and damage to expect from those impacts when they decide to launch?

Atomic launchers make severe damage to assets and produce a big hit to infantry or low armor units, making lots of kills/hits lowering their readiness, entrenchment and morale, but it also increases the radiation in these hexes (making necessary having radiation filters or battledress). Also beware than atomic launchers MAY retaliate ranged attacks if they have enough range, although they're normally weak.

Micronukes RPGs are super good against soft and hard targets (for being infantry) and have a low cost, however, you need heavy rpgs formations to make good use of them. I haven't tested artillery nukes.

What sort of Nuclear missiles are we talking about - I don't see any in the screenshot above?

Generally atomic 1mt missiles will have a 4-5 hex range depending on optimisation tech and be able to do serious damage to units and about 200pt damage to every asset in a hex.

Not sure really, spy information is a bit random at best, there are a couple of units stationed in the main capitol of the enemy, i did not check up on them though they are the launcher model you are showing

For the ones interested,

Initial stages of the war are progressing slowly, the mechanized unit supported by tanks and artillery made a good effort on the pushing north, the infantry division has a hard time in the mountains. The enemy just upgraded from battle armor to heavy battle armor and the only units capable of dealing damage are the walker units.

Why arent you using laser rifles? if you have walkers you should be able to research it.

I formed the brigades/corps before i had access to laser weapons and/or heavy battle armor. Figured might as well give it a try since i have larger reserves, territory at my disposal. And with the support of a huge group of walkers ( both the lighter and the heavier ones ) plus some tank and artillery battalions i felt i already had enough punch to cripple his troops. Now in the mountains assault is pretty much impossible, even with the numerical advantage but the troops i have are enough to hold the line against assaults of their side so there, if i'm not wrestling with the logistics, the rocket batteries ( both regiments ) and a normal artillery piece ( also a regiment ) fire havoc upon them. The mechanical corps is more then a match for then a match for their storm brigades and i have an extra medium armor regiment consisting out of both tanks ( armor focus ) and assault wagons ( infantry focus ) which could have progressed much deeper if not for the supply lines. I will be trying to take down their atomic arsenal from a distance with a heavy rocket launcher group that can fire their ordnance from a range of 7

Seems like a solid plan, good luck on your war and hopefully you can later on share an AAR :)

Chris0War -> RE: Question regarding atomics (11/18/2020 7:23:43 PM)

Thank you,

this one is not really AAR suitable... or maybe when i decide to do a tutorial ... or a funny

With my next decision being to finally make use of those droids eating up storage space to see if we can turn the stalemate in the mountains into something more favorable without using years and years to form a pocket .... and the worse part, at some point i made the connection of using one of the stratagems, going all out or something, on the droid company which came accompanied with memories of the terminator movies, you know those intro's where you see a skull that is crushed by a droid feet

i guess you get the point
