countrboy -> CFNA and Tunisia? (11/20/2020 6:09:10 AM)

I was just wondering if there was a scenario which covered both the battles in Egypt and Libya AND Operation Torch? I'm aware of the excellent CFNA but it doesn't extend to Operation Torch.

Do you mean he Torch landings or the subsequent fighting in Tunisia? The Torch landings- as I understand it- were primarily a political/logistical affair. While there was some resistance from the Vichy forces, the success of the Torch landings depended on the logistical arrangements made in advance, and the negotiations that took place between the Allies and the Vichy leaders on the ground.

One could include the Tunisia campaign itself, though doing so raises a number of difficult questions. Clearly if the Allies occupy Tunisia then it's game over for the Afrikakorps. Even if the Germans have occupied Alexandria, it's quite impossible for them to supply the army through there because the Royal Navy would still be in a position to dominate the Eastern Mediterranean from other bases, while Tripoli etc. would become unusable one Allied air forces can operate from bases in Tunisia.

In effect, the Torch landings serve as the natural ending for the North Africa scenario: at that point, it was really only a matter of time before the Allies evicted the Axis from the rest of the continent.

I take your point about the Torch landings - there wasn't much combat. I mean more about the Tunisian fighting plus the usual Egypt/Libya stuff. It seems like it could be possible to expand the CFNA scenario to include Tunisia and have Allied forces arrive on the western edge of the map at a certain date?
