I was surprised at this game how it sucks me into it. Very immersive, realistic game. The AI is very strong. I lost France in a long violent battle of 1943-44 to the allies and had to struggle to block them off on a line from Arnhem to down south with immense losses on both sides. I lost 2 fully tooled-up Panthers to the dreaded allied armies, and those tanks were shipped in from the Eastern Front which also is paper thin, plus a bunch of badly needed infantry units also were smitten by the ruthless allies. Allied losses were 4 times worse but they soaked up their losses like bullets bouncing off a Sherman. My Japan ally on AI control is doing an almost exactly historical campaign with the USA now island-hopping their way towards Japan bit by bit while Japan puts up a brave but futile resistance. I still have a very small hope because we managed to finally take Stalingrad in about Jan 1945 (oh good heavens so late!) and my Italians are taking over Africa while wiping out the US forces in the north while Rommel finished mopping up the Caucasus area and is liberating Iran from the Soviet menace. With France lost to the allies but Russia clearly weakened, I dunno.... I just dunno about Axis prospects. Thanks to the attentive developers for this nice game and also the WW1 game too is just as awesome. I want to get into the WW1 more but this game is alluring. Even after I finally solve the German puzzle, I will next want to try playing Japan with Germany & Italy set to AI control which is even harder cause I think Germany is doomed to lose on AI control without massive success from the Japan player to weaken both Russia and the allies while contending with the tenacious Chinese.
