hello all I m playing Allied campaign CS Convoy arrive regularly at Cap tow and withdrawal few days after. , don t understand the use of these convoy. theses convoy are full of unit, does this meann that unit will be add at unit pool when withdarw?

Do not confuse terms. The "reinforcement convoys" that show up at Capetown as LCU icons are special supply/fuel/device deliveries that you leave alone and they disband in three days. The supply and fuel is dumped at CT, and the devices are dumped into your device pools where they can be drawn by your LCUs (subject to the usual rules about drawing reinforcements and upgrades). A "CS convoy" is one that you set up to provide "continuous supply" of supplies/fuel or resources/oil from origin port to a target port. You do this by setting up a cargo or tanker TF at the place you want to haul from and setting the TF home port to that port. Then tell the TF what to load and set the target destination (you can add waypoints for refueling or just devious routing). At that point if you click on "Human Control" the convoy will switch to "CS Convoy" and specify what is being hauled and the target port. Note that AOs can do CS convoy duty only if their mission is "Tanker", not "Replenishment". A Cargo TF can have both AK types and Tanker types, but I prefer to keep these separate because tanker types usually unload much faster than AK types.

With CS convoys, you can also have a return cargo as well which is useful as Japan as well as the Allies to a more limited extent.

Ranger Joe, I am a new player, learning the game by reading the manual, videos and posts such as yours. I have seen a few videos by "Strategy Games Dojo" in one of which he showed setting up a CS convoy from Sydney to go empty to L.A, pick up supplies, return to Sydney, back empty to L.A. in a loop. He did not demonstrate the concept of which you speak, one cargo one way, another the return trip. Would you be so kind as to provide an example of what you mean? I was a trucker for 30 years for a major Canadian grocery chain. My typical day was to haul a load to a store, then on the way back to the warehouse I would stop at a vendor and pick up a load to haul back to our warehouse. It was most efficient for our fleet to spend as much time laden as possible. As I watched the video my trucker mind said, "That's a lot of miles empty, won't make much money that way!"

The easiest and quickest way for you as Allies to see how this works is to set up a CS convoy from Hilo to Oahu in the Hawaiian islands. Have it start in either direction if you want but it is better to start in Hilo as I will explain later. Get the xAKL or two to Hilo with an escort with an ASW value in a Cargo TF. The ASW value need not be much nor a big main gun but it keeps the enemy subs submerged so they don't also attack with their deck and AAA guns. Once in Hilo, dock it and start to load resources, then set the destination to Oahu then change the control from "Human"to "CS Convoy." You see, Oahu has industry but not enough resources. to supply the industry. They really need that good Kona coffee there, as a long haul trucker you should know that. Hilo will need some supplies, especially if you build up the port and airfield with an engineering unit to have another staging area in the Hawaiian Islands. So for the return cargo, hit the switch and go from "None" to "Supplies." When you have enough supplies in Hilo and the warehouse are getting full according to the base limits, set the return cargo from "Supplies" to "None." You may still have to bring in more resources but those can be brought in to Oahu from ships returning from hauling supplies to Noumea. You can also load resources in transports (AP type vessels, civilian or military) as well as your AG support vessels if you have at least one AK type vessel (civilian or military) at the start of the loading process. It is more efficient to do that than it is to load resources in the mainland North America and haul those resources to Hilo than it is to haul supplies to Hilo since it give you fewer supplies for the same amount of cargo space. As far as I know, there is no way to form a CS Convoy in a port carrying no cargo to another port but returning with a cargo. That is why it is probably a lot better to start in Hilo so when the supplies there are starting to overflow, you don't have to redo the convoy. There are enough clicks in the game, no need to make more. Alfred is the really knowledgeable person for the game and he will cite chapter and verse and/or link to threads. He is usually correct. If you want to, you can also haul resources from two ports in Alaska to Fort Rupert in Big Canada Land. Edit: Thank you for the comment about my knowledge of the game. Enjoy the game and have fun.

In addition to Noumea, Suva produces some resources. If the Japanese are not active around northern Oz, you can haul from Pt. Hedland. Tasmania also produces excess resources so I build the port closest to Melbourne and haul resources from the former to the latter. Early on IJ subs like to stake out the Bass Strait area but with Air ASW and Air patrols plus an AM or two escorting you can drive them from the area. I have recaptured Nauru and Ocean Islands and the Gilberts/Marshalls so my smaller xAKL supply ships to that area take a short hop to those resource-rich islands and haul back to PH or Oz. This is not a CS convoy but I figure it is worth doing to keep PH and Oz well stocked. The larger cargo ships take longer to load at small ports so I don't usually use them for resources - they are better sent back to the supply source at a big port. The calculation you should do is along the lines of 15 resources = 1 supply point from LI. (I won't get into HI because fuel is also needed there). So is it more efficient in time and/or fuel to haul the resources from a port a short distance away or to send the ship immediately back to home port to pick up supply? If the resources are needed and less than 1/15th of the trip to home port and do not take too long to load, it is worthwhile.
