Fafnir -> Mogadishu Port in 1939 (12/16/2020 10:11:40 PM)

The port at Mogadishu before Italy joins the war is open for german navy vessels.
The australian navy hit into a ship in the port but no surprise attack happend.
More strange in my turn I could not attack the australien navy with my ship which was still in the port.
I could also upgrade the ship even the enemy was nearby.

Bug or feature?

This is interesting to say the least..bug or feature?

A neutral but pro-axis port that's a safe harbor for German vessels. It reminds me of Montevideo, Uruguay, where the Graf Spee ducked in to get repaired after the Battle of the Plate. Unfortunately there the ship was scuttled and the captain committed suicide.

Like to know also if this intended or not. If intended, perhaps the German vessel can't attack from the port because it is neutral but has to consider a run for it like the choice the Graf Spee's skipper was given by the Uruguayan Government e.g. 72 hours to leave the harbor.

If its a bug the above is a moot point.

I think this is as it should be, because a neutral power would not want a battle being fought out within its territory, including within its ports.

Interesting! So all Italian ports are available for Germany before Italy joins the war? Any other neutral ports work this way?

Only Major ports are accessible as a neutral Minors won't be.

Does this mean UK vessels could find a safe harbor in a neutral pro-allied major like the USA for example? (Away from my computer so can't test this out yet.)

Edit: Nope..UK vessels can't enter US ports, or visa versa. Just put a US detachment (USA pro-allied neutral) from Puerto Rico on a transport and sent in to Monrovia, Liberia, and it couldn't dock there or any other UK port in Africa.

But Germany apparently can use neutral Italy's ports, such as the one featured here.

Yes, thinking about it it is the reverse of what I said. Because the Minor power is fully mobilized and Axis then ships of a friendly Major (Germany) can enter it.
