Is there a chart for this somewhere? Can't seem to track it down. Trying to figure out when it becomes cost effective to transition out of using patrol units and CVs out of supporting escorts.

I just got a nasty reminder what happens to surface action groups that have no DDs when they are jumped by subs. Nice trick by Battlevonwar.

Fixed equation of perfect convoy escorts? Knowing what I always say you really think there is one?

It's a scaling function that has no optimal solution. You just need to decide how to allocate fleet resources for tasks.

Surely the tech upgrade effect on escorts should not be some kind of state secret. We know that patrol units and CVs add 1% and 2% respectively. Why not the escorts themselves? I don't even know what their base chance is. Throw me a bone here.

There's obviously no perfect solution here but simply knowing what the odds are is the kind of data players need to make informed decisions.

I raised this earlier but did not get a reply. There is a world of difference between going from 3 % to 6% vs 15% to 18%

Battlevonwar is a cunning fellow, but presumably his subs will then be in fleet mode and an easy target for carriers + patrol craft.

Rng(0-400) < naval training / 2 + sub hunter bonus + (10 * research modifier ASW) = chance to hit a sub for 1 point.

Roughly speaking the UK has a 7-8% chance in 1939 to hit a sub without any modifiers.
Each research ASW adds like 2.5%
sub hunter 1% or 2%
But then you need to get past the sub experience and defense.

So there is no absolute number for max efficiency as it scales by ratio.

That's what I needed to know. I think with 42 tech onwards I can start reducing the reliance on ASW groups. Which I had concluded from trial and error anyways.
