If I have sealed roads then add railroads - am I better off using new routes for railroads or laying them on top of the sealed roads? Any advantage or disadvantages?

In the relevant section in the manual it clearly states you get a discount if building rail along existing roads. So if your roads are in the right place then You should build the rail along the same alignments.....
