Playing as Axis I find I suddenly have Atlantic Convoy lanes which expose my MM to extermination. Bug?

Nope, though the Allies have invaded Iraq.

Maybe for the one turn Iraq was on your side, the oil had to travel through the convoy line back to Germany.
I can't see any other explanation unless this is a bug.
Did sent you a screenshot of the convoy attack by mail yesterday if this can help.

That is probably it. Shut down the lane or take the oil.
