taylorgeorge -> ERAM on Virginia Class Sub (12/30/2020 10:49:40 PM)

About two updates or so ago, on the Virginia Flight III and above, there appeared in the NSSN VLS 12 an option for the RIM-17A ERAM SM-6 Blk 1A. The corresponding AEGIS datalink also appeared, but not a proper radar. A little snooping on the internet revealed nothing for this being something under consideration, so I am a little confused. That's a pretty potent SAM, but mounted in a submarine VLS without a guidance radar?

Can someone shed some light on this please? Is this a real upgrade being considered, or is it an error in the database?

Thanks.

Maybe Cooperative Engagement kind of implementation. Add to DB string to have check out. Use format others use for best result.

It is being considered and yes it would use CEC basically you could have a stealth F-35 providing initial targeting and a launch of a 200 NM anti air or anti surface missile traveling at mach 6. There is a reason USA has a defense budget in excess of next 10 countries combined.
