Bleek -> Make trade great again! (1/8/2021 10:31:40 AM)

I listened to the excellent eXplorminate podcast interview with Vic, accompanied by Ben, Tortuga and Das. They mentioned improving trade. I have a few simple ideas too: 1) See who is buying and selling. This would open up strategic choices, for example: - do you really want to buy from your enemy? - do you even have a choice? - optional trade contract, where you commit to a price for X turns to gain Y in return (diplo rep, for example) 2) Exclude other factions from your trades (check/uncheck boxes). - do you really want to sell to your enemy? - exploit tariffs you've enforced etc - can you afford not to? - trade wars! Obviously in both scenarios, excluding certain buyers/sellers might have the adverse effect of lowering your profits from trade OR ramping up your costs for your buying materials. You're faced with strategic choices around helping yourself or others, vs holding out for a better offer... or for your own production satisfy your demand. Not a massive change, but I feel a fun one to add some depth and rationale to trades. I use them frequently enough to care about this area being fleshed out. What do you think?
