One thing I have noticed is that as you add more zones, it is sometimes difficult to understand where (geographically) all of your resources are coming from and how resources are being shared between zones- Example, I had a surplus of food for my empire, but several of my zones were starving because of a lack of logistics between them. Improving the logistics was not possible so I had to try and figure out where to build another farm to supply those under served zones and figuring this out was a challenge. I know you can use the ITEMS tab to figure this out, but it would be much easier if there was a visual representation.
I thought it would be really useful to see as an overlay on the strategic map, not only the location of resource deposits (some which exist today-like oil, metal, etc.) but add in food, IP, etc. and show the amount being produced by that resource. This would give you a quick visual "scatter map" of where everything is being produced, and can help you visually figure out how your logistics need to be set up to support them.
Hope I am making this clear- i have a great visual in my head but its sort of difficult to explain.
