With my other game on hold I decided to try a japan game. only played japan a couple time's before but its a challenge I need to learn so I better understand the Japanese for allied game I will play later. we are using scenario 30 DalronBabes-A, ext map, Hako Ichiu Game settings PDU ON Realistic RnD ON Faulty SN torpedoes, allied damage control advantage, FOW, December surprise Advanced Weather ON Fixed Reinforcements on Combat Reports ON Rules Max fighter altitude 20K in 41-42, 25K in 43, 35K onwards 1st turn: Japan – cannot attack the west coast 1st turn: Allies - air and LCUs remain "as is" without any change done by Allied player. Cannot create new TFs or change TF composition; Free fight only in China. no carrier-vs-carrier battles allowed for the first 3 turns PP paid for transfer continental units across borders with two exceptions: Thai units can go to Burma, Indochina or Malaysia and other units may enter 3 hexs outside said border No 4E bombers below 10k No Land unit assigning to unrestricted Air Command Para units can attack just one target at the time – if the para unit split, it must be united in one base first before another attack. Troops can be unloaded only in dots/bases (same for para) squadron resizing limit: 45 planes aerial mining: 50 planes/target only at night for the entire war only submarine designed FPs on Japanese subs no intentional creation of fragments. fragments should not be used operationally and shall be reunited with parent as expeditiously as possible. ya it might be but I feel if the developers wanted a historical turn one they wouldn't allow you todo what you want So it add's some flavor to the game and makes it interesting every time. Turn one pearl is good and all but every expects the Japenese todo it so doing something else makes it very interesting game and might change the player's strategy

So here's my over all strategic plans: first off historical Burma, Singapore, Philippines and Dei conquest but I have bigger ambitions for the south pacific. here's my goals invade Australia, bomb Australian west coast for as long as possible rack up vps while destroying his forward industrial base to slow down his reconquest and later conquest of what land and possessions I hold. possibly drawing his fleet into a battle some where down here not to sure how I want to go about that but as for now I'm content on destroying as much of his merchant fleet as possible to hopefully slow down his troop/supply movement to forward bases in 42 to early 43

Now I've only played japan a few times before so I'm still getting used to what planes I should focus on so here my industry plans so far: Naval shipyard's got expanded by 100 and Merchant ship yards by 50 (I did merchant since in this scenario japan get an extra 400 or so points added on to from normal scenario two) on turn two carrier's Taiho, Unryu, Amagi, Katsuragi, and cve Shinyo got accelerated with Shinyo arriving in December of 42 and Taiho late January 43, Unryu and Amagi arriving in April and Katsuragi arriving in May now I accelerated these first since they come in early and I expect to lose at least a carrier or two this year and will need to replace losses for the upcoming defense of 43 vehicles are expanding to 158 might expand more not to sure yet. December, 9th After this turn I plan on making the Reports more detailed but since I'm short on time tonight I'll make it nice and quick. Bloody air turn for me some of my bomber's showed up unescorted and got shot down losing about 64 jap planes to 30 allied today with subsequent landing getting pounded by p-17s I believe in the Philippines and losing about 5 cargo ships and xAP with supplies on them no troops luckily. Also from the battle with the Prince of wales last turn Japanese did end up losing the Atago and Jinstu which will be Sorley missed in the days to come. But to my knowledge the allied player has suffer at least the Repulse dead with the Prince of Wales limping to Java, Canberra and Adelaide, 5 dd's and 7 subs to my knowledge there could be more sunk time will tell

If you opponent has no issues with your bombing Sydney the first turn and your HRs say only two port attacks via carriers on the first turn and doesn't specify which ports can't be attacked, then all is fair in love and war. My opponent and I had an interesting first turn this game, he is the Japanese, his KB on the way to PH somehow ran across the Lexington TF at night and was so delayed they never got within range to attack PH. The only change I made to the Lexington TF was to slow to cruise speed to allow the Enterprise TF to catch up. How the KB got so far off course was a mystery to us and everyone else who has chimed in on the matter. So by diverting to attack Sydney instead of PH, Manila, or Singapore you obviously ran the risk of accidently running across some other ships at sea and not arriving at your desired target.

Why so heavy on the TONY? (8 factories). Ki-44 is a clearly superior plane IMO. Or are you trying to get to Ki-100? 2. I might go heavier on the D4Y1. The Val is obsolete and needs to be replaced ASAP. You may also use some factories, once you get there, to D4Y4 3. Minor point, but the G4M2e seems useless to me, P4Y1 better plane and you'll have it sooner

I am interested on seeing how this idea of the KB going for Australia will work, as there are no "juicy" targets down under and it is a long way home after the fireworks Are you planning to invade SE Australia immediately? did you strategy bombed? these are the only 2 reasons I would had gone for Australia

December, 12 South Pacific The KB is starting to move back to Truk, KB 1 is moving out of the straight between Melbourne and Tasmania up towards Sydney while KB 2 chases some fleeing cargo ships and let me tell you I sank some nice tankers for my last day here. Philippines looks in dire straights for the allies at this point they would need some type of miracle to push the Japanese hoard of there island but looking at the situation all over the place Philippines will fall to the empire. In other note 146th rgt with support units just landed and Davao and will deliberate attack this turn to hopefully capture a major port for the conquest of Mindanao. one more thing Puerto Princesa will also be invaded next turn to stop any left over ships in Manilla from escape and bring any hope of evacuation to the south a futile effort. SRA Another day of bombing Singapore goes on from recon it seems like lots of planes have moved out of Singapore and to other ports seems like my opponent realizes that with the rail about to be cut off the city will fall within a couple week. with that it seems he's moving planes and ships to George town possibly trying to evacuate what troops he can to Burma or India with that knowledge all my air assets will be focused on sweeping, and systematic destruction of port and air facilities of George town. After a couple of turns into Sydney strategy I wanted to put down my thought on whether it was a good idea or was a bad idea. Positives 1. It shrinks the allied merchant navy early on being able to sink the Tanker's and the xAps in south Australia will reduce the capacity to move troops from main land Australia to Port Moresby, Luganville, and new Caledonia it also sink's some decent tanker's the allies will need to move fuel to Australia for later operations in late 42 and on word. 2. It over all reduces the capacity of the allies moving supplies to forward bases early on. Australia is a supply production hub early on using cargo ships that start there to move supplies to forward bases to make siege's of them is big to slow down the Japanese early on but with around 100,000 or more capacity at the bottom of the ocean supply movement should be hampered long enough for me to move troop into the area. Negative's 1. it puts the KB in a the middle of no where. now the KB is far away from any allied base allied patrols can spot the KB moving home and track it so ships won't be in harms way it also means the allies as there doing right now get free reign in the Marshall Islands until the KB moves back up there. 2. the American navy staying afloat. With no pearl harbor the Americans now have around 9 bb's they can use come island hoping now you normally won't sink any bb's during pearl anyways you just want to put them out of commission early but that didn't happen so he can use them for now in cargo ship protection or hit island's and try to flee away if my air doesn't spot him. Now what do you guys thinks of these or they on the spot or do you feel I'm way off and that its not a good analysis of what might happen come later in the game?

December 13-14th Now I don't have a lot of time today so I'll keep some thing's short on the 13th not to much happened sky's were quiet just some more landing's and some more landing happened. while on the 14th the American carrier's are going deeper into Japanese territory wasting there ammo on cargo ships. Now it sucks to lose these cargo ship but in the scenario Jap get's an extra 100 cargo ships from base scenario two so it doesn't hurt as much as it would normally. the good news is if my opponent becomes even more greedy and chases my ships another day my carrier's will refuel with my tanker task force that usually would have followed them to pearl and I might flank speed up to the Marshalls and try and catch him even if it's just one carrier sinking this early would be a great bonus since only a couple of bb's were put of out commission. one last thing to note bb maryland was torped today outside of pearl now if it didn't make it back hopefully another sub can put another couple torps into and sink it to bag me at least another bb dead since POW survived Malaya

IMO, I stick with the Pearl Harbor attack. Damaging BBs does not really help much, since they are mostly not useful to the USN until mid-1943 at the earliest. But it is handy if you can sink one or two. But one of the advantages of Pearl is that KB ends up in a useful position; you can immediately cover the Wake landing on your way back to Truk, and it's presence in Hawaiian waters will prevent the Allies from doing anything adventurous with the 2 CVs at sea. That's my take. Manila has some merits; you can also use KB quickly from Manila, though not for Wake; you pretty much have to cancel Wake for a couple weeks without a PH attack. Manila will get you some dead Subs which is nice and other shipping, but there's nothing there that is strategic. Those are really my top two choices; I can see some merit to wasting all the shipping in Australia. In the end, though, all of those ships are easily replaced. The tankers will hurt some, but not a ton.

ya but it takes time you see sure there replaced but they won't be replaced for a while in some ways sinking them now limits his operations for the foreseeable future but they'll be replaced probably by late 42 maybe early 43 we will see though

December, 15th South Pacific In the night phase my carrier merged back up together and were refueled by my AO's. Now the KB is heading back up to Marshall island area to see if the American carrier's remained close but he's didn't continue the attack today so most likely he's either heading back up to Pearl or Pago Pago then to Australia. After KB is back up to truk Zuikaku, and Hiryu will split off and head towards Babeldaob to support the invasions of South Borneo and attack some shipping around Darwin if there is any. Amphibious transports with 4th Division are about a few days away from Truk once arrived at Truk Mutsu and Yamashrio a cl and several dd's with the rest of the KB will escort them down to invade Port Moresby while 144 Rgt on Guam will load back up on transports and head for Rabaul then for a final move Guards Mixed Brigade will then head towards New Caledonia and invade Noumena to hopefully cut off a communications between America and Australia. One final note Kavieng was captured today with that 2nd JNAF unit will airlift to the base to support patrol planes to see if there is any ship movement around Solomon Sea Philippines Nothing much here today some cargo ships bombed by my patrol planes on Bataan my sweeps of Manilla and Clark Field didn't launch today because of weather hopefully it let's up and they'll launch tomorrow. Zero's were moved into Davao and will escort some Betty's from Babeldaob and bomb Cagayan and possibly find some aircraft there we'll see the result tomorrow if the weather doesn't hamper operations SRA The bombing of George Town is going as planned all resistance is either damaged or has bin destroyed and facilities of the base won't be standing for much longer some Zero's will switch up from sweeping George Town to sweeping Singapore again since recon tell's me there's about 20 planes sitting that base. Recon also show's around 2 units thus far in Palembang with 20 bomber's and 3 Auxiliary with a ca in port I doubt it's a ca most likely some time of Cl. Also Singkawang from report's say about 2000 men there. one last thing for today some support unit's from Samah are a day away from landing in Miri with vital air support to hopefully stop the American bomber's from booming the precious oil there. Zuiho and Hosho is heading twoards Miri they will sit there for a couple of day's while units unload and hopefully shoot down some b-17's while I'm there
