ITAKLinus -> A-2-A combat resolution speed (1/30/2021 8:19:11 AM)

Hi everyone,

I present my issue. I have started a game as Japanese years ago. Now, few weeks ago, my opponent resigned for various reasons. I am continuing the game on the allied side and with another opponent using the japs.

Here the problem: I cannot find a way to have the combat resolution slowed down. When I check, I have the air-to-air very quick and it's basically impossible to read whats effectively happening.
Yeah, I can pause, but it's still quite hard to grasp what's going on.

I tried to change the settings in the preference menu, but nothing changes. Every turn I load, the combat resolution of the air to air is damn fast just like if there were no change in the preferences (which, indeed, return to 0.1 delay for everything as soon as I return to the main menu after the replay).

The Ctrl+S to slow down the message delay obviously doesn't work, so, how can I slow down the combat animation so that I can read what's happening in the air?

I would like to be able to follow a combat if I would like to, just pressing ESC for the most of the combat animations.
The idea is that there are few engagements which require me to check what's going on and I would need the option to do so.

The combat animation is an invaluable tool to grasp who does what and for what reason.

Is there someone who has an idea about that? I read mostly of people willing to switch combat animations off or to speed them up: I want the opposite! [8D]

In a game started as PBEM, I think the Japanese player has to set those preferences. If you have access to both sides, change the Japanese side and then set the Allied side to match when you get the turn.

I no longer have access to the Japanese side since there is now another player playing it.

Basically: until 01/01/1944 there was me (jap) against Player A (Allied). Since 01/01/1944 it's me (Allied) playing against Player B (Jap).

Therefore, if I understand correctly: he switches the combat resolution times in his preferences menu and I get the slowed down combat animation?

Right, only the Japanese player can make changes. "Jap" is considered by most as pejorative. I don't think I've ever seen a player from Japan on the forum, but we don't want to refer to them that way. They would be welcome as far as I'm concerned.

There was one about six years ago that was a very sickly but he was determined to tell us about Japan as a place to visit, along with trying to learn about the game himself. Sadly, he was only on a few months before he disappeared - presumably his illness did him in. Young guy too. [sm=nono.gif]

Thank you very much for the reply! I have indeed somehow fixed the issue.

And, well, sorry for the "jap" thing: I am non-native English speaker and I had no clue about the fact it was a pejorative. [;)]
