Are there any plans in the works for a head to head turn based non PBEM game, like we could do in the previous version of Strategic Command? It is way more fun to be able to watch your opponent move than staring at a blank screen. My wargamer buddy an I would love to be able to do that. Does not seem like it would be that hard to do. What say you Hubert Cater?[:)]

Hi John,

Unfortunately no, once we moved to the PBEM++ server that part of the code was removed.

Do you have to use the Matrix server to play by Email?

No, you can play by email using the Hotseat mode, which will play a replay of your opponent's last turn moves. You'll just have to send the autosave in Hotseat mode back and forth between your opponent and yourself via email that way.

That being said, the Matrix PBEM++ server is really quite nice and eliminates a lot of the traditional hassle of playing by email as it is all automatically handled for you, including sending you an email to let you know when your next turn is ready to play.

Can you play by Email without the Matrix server?

Yes you can, just start a game in Hotseat and you can email the file to your opponent.

Best to zip it too otherwise it'll be quite large, or you could use a shared Dropbox folder.
