AlbertoC -> PBEM server maintenance notice (Tuesday February 16) (2/15/2021 9:49:52 AM)

Tomorrow we will be updating the PBEM server for a series of games.

It won't be possible to login on the PBEM server for the affected games for the duration of the downtime, which should last around half an hour.

List of affected games:

WarPlan
Order of Battle Pacific
Drive on Moscow
Gary Grisby’s World at War: A World Divided
Gettysburg: The Tide Turns
Germany at War: Barbarossa 1941
The Operational Art of War IV
War in the West

The downtime will start at 16:30 GMT on February 16, and it should last around 30 minutes.

Please let us know if you run into any issue of any kind. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Hi,

It hasn't been working for the last 5h for me. I played my warplan turn many time and each time it says "can't find the game online"...
When will this be fixed?
Thank you

Likewise with Warplan

squatter -> RE: PBEM server maintenance notice (Tuesday February 16) (2/17/2021 11:21:54 AM)

I wasted 3 hours replaying a turn twice last night, and I have to do some digging around to discover this is the reason.

Matrix - your communication here is appalling. Your only statement above is it will take 'around half an hour', yet 16 hours later I hear from other players the server is still down.

The fact you are having issues is completely understandable, but why aren't you communicating to your player base?

ComadrejaKorp -> RE: PBEM server maintenance notice (Tuesday February 16) (2/17/2021 12:20:01 PM)

For future announcements that affect several games, it would be advisable to make the announcement in each forum.
It is very annoying not to receive any more communication from ´´Matrix´´ about when servers will work.
A simple statement advising of the delay would be sufficient.

Warplan is still failing to upload as of 11:13 AM Wednesday the 17th.

[:@] Played my Warplan email turn twice and I was about to post the issue when I came across this thread.

It certainly is taking more than half an hour...

Hopefully it will be solved no doubt about that.

generalfdog -> RE: PBEM server maintenance notice (Tuesday February 16) (2/18/2021 5:23:33 PM)

So it still does NOT work over 2 days later! do we know when it might be back up?

ncc1701e -> RE: PBEM server maintenance notice (Tuesday February 16) (2/18/2021 5:31:32 PM)

We are making a test right now with ComadrejaKorp. We can play Warplan in PBEM but only after creating a new PBEM.

It seems our current games were lost by this upgrade.

I hope Matrix/Slitherine have a backup to restore our current games....

MorningDew -> RE: PBEM server maintenance notice (Tuesday February 16) (2/18/2021 5:55:01 PM)

One clarification - they aren't lost. They are listed and we can download them and play out our turn. We just cannot upload them back to the Matrix servers.

ComadrejaKorp -> RE: PBEM server maintenance notice (Tuesday February 16) (2/18/2021 6:02:12 PM)

I can wait to find out if ´´Matrix´´ can save our current games.
The question that I would like to know the answer to:
Can we create new games? or will they be lost?
After 2 days of waiting it would be nice to know something more about what is happening.

Kyrian -> RE: PBEM server maintenance notice (Tuesday February 16) (2/18/2021 7:25:33 PM)

Matrix could you please explain what is going on? It is sad to let your customers in the dark... Or maybe this is due to the winter storm? that would explain the lack of communication....
Anyway, thank you for your feedback.

This ongoing debacle and wall of silence is either an example of

a) embarrassing levels of incompetence in Matrix's customer communications

b) the contempt in which Matrix holds its customers

or

c) the worrying signs of a company that no longer has the means to fulfil its obligations, and is teetering on the brink of collapse

Time will tell which one. Hopefully not c)

VPaulus -> RE: PBEM server maintenance notice (Tuesday February 16) (2/19/2021 11:03:30 AM)

As I've posted in the other thread the web admins are looking into the issue.
We apologise for all the inconvenience.

rjh1971 -> RE: PBEM server maintenance notice (Tuesday February 16) (2/19/2021 11:09:51 AM)

Nothing like a touchy post to stir the wasp's nest and make Matrix react. [:D]
No offense intended, I have full confidence in Matrix after 16 years hanging around. [:)]

I'm pleased to hear that it's option a) and not c) then

VPaulus -> RE: PBEM server maintenance notice (Tuesday February 16) (2/19/2021 2:05:50 PM)
