warshipbuilder -> What is your ONE must have item? (2/25/2021 2:15:42 AM)

We always kicking around ideas on the dev board as to what to correct or add to the game. But we are a very small group. So I am asking all of you if there is ONE thing in the game that you would want to have, what would it be?

Johntxic -> RE: What is your ONE must have item? (2/25/2021 7:30:17 AM)

More than 3 waypoints.

SagarenHunter -> RE: What is your ONE must have item? (2/25/2021 8:31:10 AM)

Being able to make Fighter Sweeps not perform strafing runs.

RichardL58 -> RE: What is your ONE must have item? (2/25/2021 11:38:18 AM)

As a LW player i want the Würzburg radar, to get update of the correct altitude of raiders (Würzburg radar were also used for radar-guided flak fire).

Dan1977 -> RE: What is your ONE must have item? (2/25/2021 1:42:59 PM)

How about an Editor Module for the game?

JeffroK -> RE: What is your ONE must have item? (2/26/2021 5:51:39 AM)

The ability, in an AI game, to save and view the opposite side.

warshipbuilder -> RE: What is your ONE must have item? (2/27/2021 1:03:11 AM)

Thanks for chiming in and I look forward to hearing from others. Here is my initial response to your suggetions.

That should not be hard, but do not know where that would fall on our programmer's to-do list.

I need some clarification on this one. My reaction answer is to use FB's rather than F's for the sweeps. Bombs do more damage than bullets. Or is there something else you are referring to?

There again a programming priority situation.

That will have to wait until BTR Mk.II

Another one I am not sure I understand. Or do you just not like to run recon missions?[:)] Can you expand your thought, please?

Pete McCullagh -> RE: What is your ONE must have item? (2/27/2021 1:20:49 AM)

The ability for the Allies to Launch flights(4ac).. these could be used to escort vital recon missions and to do tac recon. This would allow the 8th Af scout groups to be used in a realistic fashion when they arrive.

warshipbuilder -> RE: What is your ONE must have item? (2/27/2021 1:35:21 AM)

For the record here is mine, BC being able to bomb Italy.

Pete McCullagh -> RE: What is your ONE must have item? (2/27/2021 3:15:16 AM)

Easy, fix Shuttle!

Johntxic -> RE: What is your ONE must have item? (2/27/2021 6:05:48 AM)

Bomber Command should be able to do daylight raids post-June 1944.

mark dolby -> RE: What is your ONE must have item? (2/27/2021 6:12:16 AM)

This is mine.
Pilot history.
Basically a button next to the pilot in the pilot roster. This would access a history of the pilot career, specifically mission number, date of mission, victory number, kill record including type flown and type destroyed. The mission number could be left out as many missions would be otherwise blank or just used when a victory is scored. It would be nice to see any double/triple victories etc by pilots.

The ability, in an AI game, to save and view the opposite side.

After you save a game and go back to the main screen, can you have the ability to "change sides" and log in as the opposing side. Only available in a game against the AI.

This allows you to review what is really happening as a result of you strategies.

WITPAE allows this and its very useful for the antiAI players, some even play a few turns to correct any AI oddities.

I'm mostly referring to Air Indertiction sweeps and CAPs over airfields. Many times I don't want them strafing the airfields, just sitting above and waiting to bounce enemy aircraft. As it stands a Fighter Sweep will always hit every railyard and airfield anywhere close to it's flightpath, which sometimes means few if any fighters reach the desired loiter spot, and using fuel and ammunition which means they leave sooner as well. I'd like to be able to park fighters in the middle of a cluster of airfields to CAP them without them trying to shoot up every airfield.

If possible, this would be a nice addition, but I saw an error regarding the list of available pilots. Towards the end of my 1943 Long Campaign (1.04 version) I saw that the pilots, once killed, disappeared from the list and this was also the case for the best aces. In my opinion, if possible it would be necessary to have a larger list of pilots or to have the possibility to reuse the same names, without deleting the data of the pilots killed.

The ability to differentiate FRONT and CENTERLINE gun mounts in Fighter and other aircraft.
In War in the Pacific Admiral Edition this is realized with CL having doubled the accuracy compared to FRONT (wingmounted) guns.
Manual trained guns and all other positions should be treated as FRONT with halfed accuracy.

Refer once again to the priority list.

@JeffroK seems like a bit of a cheat to me. Why would we need recon missions then? Nothing like the FOW to keep you guessing.

@SargeantHunter you should contact Pete McCullagh he is our resident FS genius. He may be able to help you there.

@Mappo I believe there are 18000 pilots in the db, I don't think we need anymore.

@Witjer sounds like a nasty coding problem to me. Simovich would have to speak to that one.

Re airfield CAPs: go to Mechanics of ACM thread.

Looking at that thread it says nothing about preventing strafing runs on airfields or railyards your fighter sweeps pass over.

V72 -> RE: What is your ONE must have item? (3/1/2021 10:36:04 AM)

Define areas, e.g. 400 km wide, in order to force the AI to launch reconnaissance, bombing and other actions in these areas rather than just anywhere as is currently the case !

If I understand this right you could click recon, then airfields, then 400km and your reccy birds would just photo all the airfields within a 400km radius? Then apply same principle to all other mission types, maybe do 100km increments. I like it.

Hi Warshipbuilder, no doubt there are many pilots in the db, but as I said, in my 1943 long campaign (version 1.04), at one point many of my pilots, once killed in combat, simply disappeared from both the honour roll and the top pilots list. As if they had never existed and when it came to aces with dozens of wins and hundreds of missions it was a bit unpleasant. So my question is: is there any way to prevent this data from being lost? [:)]

warshipbuilder -> RE: What is your ONE must have item? (3/1/2021 8:48:00 PM)

I am sure there should be a way to maintain that info. I wouldn't think it would be difficult. Of course, that is up to the programmer and priorities.

V72 -> RE: What is your ONE must have item? (3/2/2021 2:11:55 AM)

That's more or less the idea, but by defining a "zone", for example, if I want to concentrate my efforts on the "rhur" rather than letting the A.I. scatter over areas not overflown by the "recos" and carry out "hazardous" bombings.(Sorry for my poor English )

Ok understood. Your English is fine.

V72 -> RE: What is your ONE must have item? (3/15/2021 11:30:45 AM)

Would it be possible, when entrusting reconnaissance flights to the AI, to add an "and/or" parameter by indicating (for example): "city or refinery".

Also, when entrusting a "bombing raid" to the AI, would it be possible to force the raid(s) on a target that has been recognized for less than a day or two or three?

SagarenHunter -> RE: What is your ONE must have item? (3/15/2021 1:27:32 PM)

One thing I'd like is when doing Airfield recon if it would note not just how many, but what types. Not even specific models, but maybe even just "single-engine" and "twin-engine" designators.

Pete McCullagh -> RE: What is your ONE must have item? (3/16/2021 8:42:45 AM)

Yes! I have wanted that forever..in the form of a recon report. We get a lot of information, but cannot use it as it is hidden in 'list targets' under multiple headings. Just a report of recons during the previous 5-7days

Mappo -> RE: What is your ONE must have item? (3/16/2021 7:31:07 PM)

Being Italian, I would very much like to find a way to keep the data of the Italian squadrons and Italian pilots until the end of the campaign. As of today, all these data have disappeared following the September armistice. Playing as Axis I can always save the last game turn before the armistice, but playing as Allied this is not possible. For example, it would be nice if the Italian squadrons were like frozen, without airplanes and not usable by the Axis player from the armistice onwards, to be then observed and compared with the Allied and Axis squadrons after the campaign ended. I realize that there are more priority things, but hoping costs nothing

RichardL58 -> RE: What is your ONE must have item? (3/16/2021 8:30:10 PM)

Speaking of italian units. It would be nice if some of the pilots in the disbanded units do a "comeback" in the Salo Republic air units that appear in 1944, with their previous experience, mission numbers and kills.
