shri -> Is France OP in March to Paris? (2/28/2021 2:23:21 PM)

Now, since the tourney was announced i played 1 game against the top level of AI (but i give AI only MPP bonus not the experience and sight) and i won way too easily. Infact Brussels didn't fall.

Now, from OOB of France i see, at start of WW1, the French mobilised 21 corps in 5 armies, consisting of roughly 45 divisions (each corps had 2 divisions, the colonial one had 3 and there was a separate detachment to take Mulhausen of roughly 1.5 divisions or so) and 1 cavalry corps of 3 divisions, this with 5 HQs.
Problem is France starts with these troops and gets a lot by decisions (now granted they are sent to some weird places and you have to pay MPP to operate them to the front, which means 2 turns before sent to combat, still it looks like a lot).

OTOH the German army strength (due to losses due to attrition) actually fell way below France, if i combined France, Belgium and England, i got a good 20% numerical superiority. This is insane OP. Or is the AI just too bad? or did i cheat by not giving AI free sight and exp in addition to MPP?

Germany should start with roughly 9 Cavalry, 80 divisions (70 due to 35 corps, 6 divisions due to unattached divisions and 4 divisions due to various landwehr brigades ~ about a dozen such brigades), alternatively 76 divisions of infantry and about 10 or so detachments with 7 HQs.
It seems they start with less.

I played this twice as both sides in a MP and it seemed balanced except for the fact that France could operate into Belgium...with the newest version they took that ability away which is great!
Still...it seems slightly weighted to France...mainly because Paris is so far. The Fort objective strategy may work for the Germans..but its brutal.

I haven't tried it much in SP mode other than several quick rides before I dived into multiple MP's with Zaveric, one where I barely got a stalemate playing the Germans...the other a loss as the Entente.
My opponent was a much better operational tactician then me in this sandbox...but it was great fun. [:)]

Both Race to Paris and Ludendorff are excellent games...

Hmm, ok.

I thought the AI got stuck due to bad supply in Belgium, i managed to kill a lot of divisions esp cavalry using my railed French divisions.
Anyway will try to play as the Germans and understand the game.

By fortress assault you mean 1871 repeat with Forts? sounds macabre. Anyway will try to check it, blasting those Forts open shouldn't be too easy.

One thing i certainly think is an exploit is trenches on non-city/forts areas. 1914 esp Aug-Oct there were no trenches.
