randallw -> Range of HQs for support units when attaching them to Soviet corps? (2/28/2021 8:25:27 PM)

So I have tank corps, serving in tank army HQs. I have support units in the front HQs, and a couple in the tank army HQs. When I look at a specific corps to see what I can assign to it, the amount of units I can attach are not just the ones in the tank army but also the fronts. Some of my support units are better than others, so i'd like to mange some way to have just certain ones eligible, otherwise the game just picks one from the group ( example: if there are four separate tank regiments in range, the game picks one of those four for me; I prefer to have just a specific one eligible so none of the other three are picked for the moment ). What's the range the game uses, in having units eligible?

I'm confused. Are you talking about support unit commitment in combat or the transfer of support units to HQ?

If it's support unit commitment it's 5 hex and they can only come from HQ commanding the battle.
If it's support unit transfer then do it maually by locking the HQs. This stops the game from transferring support units between themselves. As to the range they will transfer if you don't lock then I think it's the command range of the sending HQ but that's a guess as i never use the auto system it gets it wrong.

If you search the forum there are many post on support units.

I'm trying to attach a combat support unit ( a specific one ), to a tank corps ( as a direct attachment ).

In my current situation I have a Guards tank corps; Southern Front HQ is 11 hexes away, with a MG-artillery bn in it. 2nd Tank Army also has a MG-artillery bn it, 7 hexes from the Guards tank corps. When I look at the attachment menu for the corps, those two bns seem to be available, listed by unit type and number available. Both of the HQs are locked. The corps itself is part of 1st Tank Army, which is then part of Southern Front HQ. 2nd Tank Army is part of Voronezh Front. The exact links of the HQs may not seem to matter how this works, nor whether they are 'locked' or not.
