Schr75 -> B61 loadout on a B-2 (3/5/2021 6:23:55 PM)

Hi

I was reading through the file gunner98 shared the other day

https://www.airforcemag.com/app/uploads/2020/06/Weapons.pdf

and I was wondering.
Why can the B-2 carry 16 B61-7 and -12, and 16 B83, but only 8 B61-11?

As far as I can tell, all B61 mods are more or less identical regarding weight and dimensions.
So what am I missing?

The Mod 11 has increased total diameter because of the tail flare, maybe that's making it impossible to fit more than 4 on each rotary drum:

Now that's what I would call a visually perfect explanation as to why.....<G>

From Wiki B61 nuclear bomb page

'The original B61-0 weapon was 141.6 inches (3.60 m) long, with a diameter of 13.3 inches (340 mm) and a basic weight of 715 pounds (324 kg) with most later weapons having approximately the same dimensions and weight, except for the Mod 11 version which has a weight of approximately 1,200 pounds (540 kg).'

Hi guys

Thanks for the answers.
I didn´t know about the flare on the mod 11, but it makes perfect sense that you could only fit four on each rotary launcher.

@trevor999.
I missed that part on the wiki, but the weight isn´t the issue here. The B83 weights 1100kg and the B2 can carry 16 of these.
It have a maximum official payload of 18000kg, so it can easily carry the weight of 16 mod 11´s.
But thanks for the input. I learned something new and that´s always a good thing[:)]
