AdmiralSteve -> WarPlan vs. WitW (3/8/2021 1:22:34 AM)

Hello All,

I have about 20 hours into War in the West and enjoy it. I'm looking into WarPlan for the similarities to WitW but also WarPlan seems to have a very good naval system implemented. How similar is WarPlan to WitW and how good is the naval system within WarPlan?

Thank You,

Steve

As someone who owns both titles I must confess I don't see a huge amount of similarity between the two. War in the West is your typical Gary Grigsby spreadsheet-tome of a game with units composed of hundreds of individual squads, guns, planes and devices. Where divisions, brigades and hundreds of support units abound. Warplan is much more like your traditional table top corps-level war game where most land units are two factor counters albeit with their basic numbers modified by experience, effectiveness and supply and other factors. Also, there isn't quite the minutiae involved in the supply rules with items like depots, freight and rail capacity like there is in WitW.

WarPlan is more complex than Strategic Command. Way less complex than WitE or WitW.

If you like World in Flames board game you will like WarPlan
Or the old SPI ETO game
Third Reich

Less micromanagement and lots of depth. Incredibly fun vs another player. Mostly Positive on Steam.
