mdsmall -> How long do your games run? (3/8/2021 6:15:47 PM)

I thought I would start a new thread on this topic, as there have been various comments made in recent threads about the game running much faster than history.

In your experience, what percentage (roughly) of your multi-player games reach 1917? and 1918?

And what percentage of them are competitive until 1917 or 1918 - competitive in the sense that both sides think there is still a chance they could either win a Minor Victory or hold the other side to a stalemate by November 11, 1918?

Finally, what percentage of your multi-player games involve the USA entering the war (at any point)?

10% into 1917... I don't remember a game making it to 1918.

0%... I've always known who is going to win by mid-1916, normally by the beginning of 1916.

25%... that includes a number of games where the US enters the war within a couple of turns of the end. I have never seen US entry be decisive in any way, as the war is always decided by then.

I have 24 MP games done since Feb 2020. According to some notes, screenshot documentation and my memory it falls something like this:

1 mid 1918 (Very experienced opponent)

1 end 1918 (Stalemate-very experienced opponent)

4 mid to late 1917 (Intermediate to Advanced lvl opponents)-early version op artillery ruined otherwise gripping matches.

2 early 1917 (Experienced opponents)-early version op artillery again became the theme.

4 late 1916 (New to Experienced opponents)-early version op artillery, two matches involving early version Bulgarian Gambit.

6 early 1916 (New to Experienced opponents-early version op artillery, two ghosts, one early version Bulgarian Gambit.

6 1915 (New to Intermediate opponents)- 2 bad tactics, 4 unfamiliarity to basic game mechanics, early version op artillery, 1 rage quitter, 1 ghost wrapped in the 6 total....

Op Artillery in the earlier versions was the general cause of mid war (mp match) endings.
Common lament heard : "I didn't get to use my Tanks...again!"
