Blunderbuss -> Mercenaries tv programme (8/21/2003 4:22:45 AM)

While flicking channels last night I caught most of Mercenaries on Ftn. It's a tacky, cheaply made programme, which I nevertheless found reasonably entertaining. The premise is that two teams of PC gamers ("...all the way from Portsmouth!") battle each other on a network of PCs, using a variety of commercial games. Last night they had a RTS game (I missed it's title) and a couple of first-person shooters (one was Delta Force, I think). The teams, whose members look to be in their twenties/early thirties, also include a hacker. The hackers are given a rather dull assignment to crack a code. There is much cheering and fist waving, spurred on by the balding presenter. Thought I'd mention this show because there aren't many videogame based shows on tv over here, and the title doesn't exactly inform you of it's contents. I'll keep tuning in for a while to see which other games are featured. Who knows, they might include a turn-based game in a future show.
