SwampYankee68 -> Raid on Kismayo, 2013 - What Am I Doing Wromg?!?!? (3/13/2021 10:38:03 PM)

Hi folks. new to the game. I've played through the cargo tutorial, and believe that I understand the concepts and how to.

This scenario starts with the marines loading onto the Ospreys. When I tail the convoy to the safe house, I define an area around it, then create a cargo mission, assign all 4 ospreys to it, I make sure that they are to unload when they reach the objective, but once I launch the Ospreys, they get airborne and immediately land on the ship. I have the RPs of the defined area active and in the mission editor. I can't for the life of me understand what I am doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When your asking for help on something like this, its best to attach the scenario so someone can see exactly what you are trying to do.

OK my friend,

Do your magic.

You'll need to launch the Ospreys but the mission is all set up. I guess there is something wrong in the mission setup?

A quick clarification: have you actually loaded the marines into the Ospreys via the cargo menu, or are they just equipped with a "Marines, 24x" loadout? You mentioned were new to the game, and this would be the kind of thing that would (understandably) confuse new players. If this is the issue, see this thread here for additional details: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4889552

(Then again, you did say you played the cargo tutorial, so presumably you already know this. But it doesn't hurt to ask.)

Regardless, thewood1 makes a good point.

(I'm also assuming, based off of the above linked thread, that this scenario does indeed use the Chains of War cargo features. It's worth pointing out, even if it doesn't necessarily apply here, that many older scenarios, that were made pre-CoW, don't. They usually involved teleporting in the ground units once the transport entered a defined zone. Just something to watch out for.)

I have run it six times on 1147.17. In each, I hit start, accelerated time, and after one of the Ospreys readies in 30 minutes, all four take off and go to the designated area. They get shot down a lot, but they execute the mission. I'll try running it in the morning on 1147.14 and see if there is a difference.

There is something that happened in .14. None of the ready Ospreys even take off. As soon as the readying Osprey is ready it flies the mission by itself.

If you are using 1147.14 (the final 1.02 version), I'd make sure to upgrade to the public beta of 1147.17. I had no issues using .17. I didn't see anything about fixing cargo missions in the .17 notes, but can't see the .15 and .16 notes to see if something was fixed or changed.

Thanks for the feedback. According to the briefing they are supposed to start the scenario in the process of loading into the Ospreys (30 minutes). I've see than happening, so I am pretty sure they are loaded.

I have it on steam so I think I will just hold onto my save until that patch goes official. Also, I plan on having my sea cobras hit the AAA positions before the Ospreys ingress. Hopefully that will limit losses.

"Raid on Kismayo" was released before the cargo carrying features in the game were available. I suspect it makes use of a common work around people used at the time.
