Magpius -> Game Crash (3/23/2021 5:13:59 AM)

Reinstalled onto Windows 10 Machine.
Updated to latest patch, (2.28b)
Crash.

Message as follows.
Any thoughts?
What's irrKlang.NET4.dll, it is in the games folder, but it is still not working.
Thanks an advance.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

ernieschwitz -> RE: Game Crash (3/23/2021 5:25:29 AM)

I think I heard of this one before. Let me check around... or try to get Vic involved.

ernieschwitz -> RE: Game Crash (3/23/2021 5:30:45 AM)

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4625942&mpage=1

Sounds similar

ernieschwitz -> RE: Game Crash (3/23/2021 6:38:06 AM)

A friend, who has another friend in Australia, sent me this link, that is the probable solution. His friend had the same problem, and so did he:

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4662515&mpage=1&key=

In short Vic says:

quote:

Hi,

For the 'keys' issue you'll have to contact Matrix support. My mission is just to make your game run.

The thing is all seems ok. However you must be a special case as hundreds of other installs worked..

(a) option A

What might be the case is that your system is missing 'MSVCR100.DLL'.

You could do a search (see magnifying glass on your taskbar) for this filename first.

It should be properly re-installed with this microsoft installer:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555
(restart computer afterwards)

(b) option B

What might be the case is that your system is missing 'VCRUNTIME140.DLL'.

You could do a search (see magnifying glass on your taskbar) for this filename first.

It should be properly re-installed with this microsoft installer:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=52685
(chose the x86 version, and restart computer afterwards)

Let me know how this goes and if you have these 2 files installed in the first place?

best wishes,
Vic

Hope this helps

Magpius -> RE: Game Crash (3/24/2021 9:51:47 AM)

No luck, I'm afraid.
Downloaded the .dll's placed them into the Game directory.
Similar error message which I'll post up.
Thanks for the try.

Magpius -> RE: Game Crash (3/24/2021 10:03:53 AM)

Game runs under the legacy 227g version.
So not the end of the world.
Attached is file directory

ernieschwitz -> RE: Game Crash (3/24/2021 12:35:47 PM)

Now I don't claim to know a lot about dll files, but I am not sure copying them into the directory is the same as installing them...

In any case, I have contacted Vic.

Vic -> RE: Game Crash (3/24/2021 1:23:13 PM)

Ernie is right, you need to run the microsoft installers.

sorry for the hassle. it is a bit of a puzzle to me why 1 in 500 machines do not have these dll's pre-installed...

best wishes,
Vic

Magpius -> RE: Game Crash (3/25/2021 8:56:05 AM)

Odd.
I did run these through M.S. installer.
Will try running in a different order.
1. DLL's 1st
2. A reinstall.

Appreciate the support Vic Ernie et.al.
(Been playing since People's Tactics, it's this Machine, not the software's fault.)

Magpius -> RE: Game Crash (3/25/2021 10:33:26 AM)

Driver Updates.
Clean Install.
Afraid No luck.
Will continue to play legacy 227 (which works).
Thanks for your attention here guys.
Appreciated.

ernieschwitz -> RE: Game Crash (3/25/2021 11:40:22 AM)

Still annoying. Not satisfactory.

I can only hope we find a solution.

zakblood -> RE: Game Crash (3/25/2021 4:06:30 PM)

maybe your on the older version of windows 10, you need to update to (10.0, Build 19042) (19041.vb_release.191206-1406) which is the latest called 20H2

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/feature-update-through-windows-10-version-20h2-enablement-package-02d91e04-931e-f00d-090c-015467c49f6c

which has the latest and best version of NET4

Magpius -> RE: Game Crash (3/26/2021 6:27:24 AM)

Nope, did a complete windows and driver update. Included some.net drivers that I thought would do the trick.
Then a cleaned regedit and removed any old bits of program.
Then a fresh download and install.
Same outcome.
It's odd how the 227 legacy works, but something in 228 spits the dummy.

ernieschwitz -> RE: Game Crash (3/26/2021 7:20:51 AM)

227g runs using NET, while 228b runs NET4.

Vic -> RE: Game Crash (3/26/2021 7:44:03 AM)

Hi,

Seen similar thing with a SE player and those above MS installers did not work.

However the following did:

best wishes,
Vic

But thanks for trying.

Vic -> RE: Game Crash (3/26/2021 7:03:09 PM)

Sorry,

This is a bit of a puzzle to me as well. I just went over the dependencies of irrklang again.

And it actually seems it needs the VC redistributables for x86 (32 bit systems).

Could you still give that one last try?:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads-2647da03-1eea-4433-9aff-95f26a218cc0
(pick the x86 one)

or in case that doesn't work... this one:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=5555

let me know...

sorry for the hassle. if this doesn't work i am a bit at a loss.

best wishes,
Vic

[&o]
Words fail me.

When I'm sure you have bigger fish to fry, you spend some time helping one old gamer from Aus.
Thank you sir.
It worked.

cpdeyoung -> RE: Game Crash (3/27/2021 12:45:05 PM)

Isn't it wonderful when someone stands by you.

Chuck

PS : Hi.

Magpius -> RE: Game Crash (3/28/2021 1:46:17 AM)

Hi Chuck.
I've been away from games for quite a while.
(Discovered fly fishing as a way from not staring at computers).
But this game keeps calling out.
Great to see you're still about.
Vic's support incredible.
Regards
