Just one small thing I do not quite understand and just need a confirmation if possible.

Take Luftflotte 1 as an example.

Here you set up your Recon, GND Support missions etc and running the AI will allocate the Aircraft and Numbers to be used ij those missions.

If, lets say I had set I Fliegerkorps to follow the 16th Army will the AI take that instruction into account? and plan the operations set in Luftflotte 1 accordingly.

Yes it will. The following HHQ will affect air directives and air unit basing.

Yes, when I'm playing with the full AI Air Assist, I typically do the following:

1. Look at my AOGs and decide if I'm happy with the ground HQs they are set to follow. If playing as the Axis, this can be as simply as (for example) setting Luftflotte 1 to follow Army Group North, Luftflotte 2 to follow Army Group Center, etc. Or you can get a bit further down and assign your Fliegerkorps to your Panzer Groups and your various Kolufts to the Armies you want them to Recon for, etc. It's up to you but doesn't take long and doesn't tend to need changing often.

2. Look at my AOGs and decide if I'm happy with their Stances and Mission settings. It's hard to go wrong with Flexible, but sometimes an AOG is ground down and you want to set it to Rest. Sometimes you want to limit flying to the day or stand down entirely during terrible weather (thought the AI usually handles that well without needing to fully stand down).

3. Decide if I need to do Naval Interdiction on any ports, in which case I pick one or two AOGs (usually the Flieger Fuehrer Ostsee and another bomber AOG) and assign them to Naval Ops targeting the port I want to cut off from supply instead of having them follow a ground HQ.

That pretty much takes care of it and once you get the hang of it, with the full AI Air Assist it often takes less than a minute per turn.

Regards,

- Erik

Thanks Erik

Pretty much how I had hoped it was working.

So far I have to say a brilliant upgrade on WitE1 - will we see it transfer to WitW? I hope so.......

gekkoguy35 -> RE: AOG Assignments (3/26/2021 3:41:15 PM)

Agreed, this would be pretty great to see in WitW somehow. Not sure if it's even technically possible, but It would be cool. For me, for some reason this air system just clicks at a different level with me than the one in the West.
