carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/15/2021 1:33:47 AM)

I have accepted a Campaign 41 as the Axis vs Searry's Soviet Union. This will slow down the turns here but I will try and keep it going as I need practice with this time of the war (if you could not tell). I still can't believe I forgot to build the forts . . .

karonagames -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/15/2021 9:40:52 PM)

I took your T7 save for a walk, and managed to capture Sevastopol, Leningrad, Orel Kursk and Kharkov, but came up short of Stalino. During the winter I got smashed in the south, losing Orel, Kursk, Kharkov Dtown and Ztown. I think you are in for a long, hard winter. Where the terrain is clear with no woods to slow them down there is nothing stopping the soviets advancing 1 hex row per turn.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/15/2021 10:37:52 PM)

Yep. Winter 41/42 hurts the Axis as much as Summer/Fall 41 hurts the Soviets.

T27 Soviet Attacks:

89 attacks resulting in 3 Routed, 46 Retreated, and 40 Held. These attacks are spread along the entire front.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/18/2021 11:58:58 PM)

T27 Supply Net North:

Not enough freight is reaching the front but other than a few long transits the majority are doing well.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/18/2021 11:59:22 PM)

T27 Supply Net South:

11th Army is the worst off along with the Crimea but they are improving.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/18/2021 11:59:45 PM)

T27 Air Phase:

Still no LW flying.

T27 Freight:

The supply situation is getting worse. The imperative now is to make sure I have back up rail lines repaired for when the front North - South lines fall.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/19/2021 12:00:11 AM)

T27 AGN:

Try and build a stable line that will allow me to keep my foothold threatening Leningrad. The supply situation is improving in this area but that is not saying very much.

[image]local://upfiles/35705/AE6A28E1DACE473A9537E37BDBF8B21F.jpg[/image]

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/19/2021 12:00:37 AM)

T27 AGC:

This line is a bit more stable than AGN and I have some room to retreat without losing good bases for a 42 offensive in this area. Rotate some units out of the line for refit and send in the units refitting last turn. It is actually a bit amazing at how fast the German units refit back to decent strength - but not recovering CPPs very fast.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/19/2021 12:01:10 AM)

T27 AGS:

Refit and rebuild the line with units rotating out. I don't have much room for retreat in the Kursk and Kharkov areas. I would like to keep them, but the Soviets obviously have other ideas. I will hold them as long as possible. The Dnepr River bend cities are getting onto the rail net in the next few turns and that will help 11th Army. I am surprised that the Rumanians are being left pretty much alone with only a single attack now and then. Perhaps the Soviets believe the Rumanian propaganda? I stay with the foothold across the Kerch Straits as I think this is an important area for next year's offensive push and the Soviets seem to be ignoring the area.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/19/2021 12:01:31 AM)

T27 Soviet Garrison:

The garrison requirements just went up but no additional troops were sent there through reinforcements or withdrawals. Fortunately I still have 105% in the garrison but I will try to send some more units there to bulk it up.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/23/2021 6:30:52 PM)

T28 Soviet Attacks:

The Soviets did 79 battles resulting in 5 Routs, 40 Retreats, and 34 Hold results. The Soviets left AGN alone but have attacked just about everywhere else. 9th Army sector is in trouble with a division isolated. Another area of crisis is Kharkov. The city has been cut off to the west.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/23/2021 6:31:24 PM)

T28 Supply Net North:

A slight change in the graphics as I left the Soviet Battle markers on so you can see where the attacks have been. Overall the supply is actually fairly decent.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/23/2021 6:31:50 PM)

T28 Supply Net South:

17th and 11th Army is a stretch as well as the Rumanians on the north shore of the Sea of Azov. I am glad that this is the last week of December 41 and things should improve slightly after this turn as the winter CV penalties start to ease.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/23/2021 6:32:16 PM)

T28 Air Phase:

Nothing to report as the LW remains in Reserve.

T28 Freight:

Unfortunately this situation is not going to start improving until Mar 42.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/23/2021 6:32:45 PM)

T28 AGN:

Swap out some units for others in hopes of getting some of them back up in form. The supply situation is improving but blizzards a just too bad of weather for any true improvement.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/23/2021 6:33:17 PM)

T28 AGC:

Put out the fires that I can. The division is no longer isolated. Supply situation is improving but can only deliver what it receives.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/23/2021 6:33:43 PM)

T28 AGS:

I had to pull back to the city of Kharkov itself but I am trying to hold on to it if at all possible. Kursk is looking okay at the moment but there are two more months to go with the CV penalties and three months of the logistics penalties. The Rumanians start to pull back having recognized that the weather trumps their 'elite' status.

T29 Soviet Attacks:

80 Soviet attacks resulting in 4 Routs, 46 Retreats and 30 Holds. Once again no attacks north of Lake Ilman. But problems in the Kalinin, Kursk, and Rumanian line north of the Sea of Azov. But it is now January and things should improve with less CV penalties. Or so I hope!

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/24/2021 2:32:55 PM)

T29 Supply Net North:

Decent supply travels, but mostly because my problem areas are collapsing . . .

[image]local://upfiles/35705/46BD96F12EC8468E9115130A428508A5.jpg[/image]

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/24/2021 2:33:33 PM)

T29 Supply Net South:

The rail net is now to Dnepropetrovsk but not yet delivering enough supplies. I am getting sick of blizzards all of the time.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/24/2021 2:34:43 PM)

T29 Air Phase:

The LW can't even see the airfields so how can they fly? Oh yeah, they are still in Reserve too!

T29 Freight:

More freight reaches the units this turn and only 4.8K lost. An improvement but there is still 15K to catch up on. As I have mentioned before, this amount will carry over to next turn plus the freight used during this turn will be added to the needs for next turn. I will point out that the 4th Panzer Army is now resupplied. Perhaps that is why the Soviets have stopped their attacks near Leningrad.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/24/2021 2:35:23 PM)

T29 AGN:

16th and 9th Armies pull back and refit what they can. At least they are actually falling back on their supply sources now. The isolated division is slowly making it back to friendly lines.

[image]local://upfiles/35705/74C185E52FB0415FA748C0618A8F0674.jpg[/image]

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/24/2021 2:35:57 PM)

T29 AGC:

Rotate out units for refit. Try and hold what I can and not back up too much here as this is a good threat to Moscow.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/24/2021 2:36:29 PM)

T29 AGS:

The Rumanian flank is starting to fall apart. I am just hoping the Soviets are not able to advance too well in this area. I am willing for the Crimea to be cut off if it happens but I am trying to avoid that.

[image]local://upfiles/35705/3F9ADD1BB5B140B7AB28E575F5FE2FB0.jpg[/image]

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/24/2021 2:37:06 PM)

T29 Soviet Garrison:

It's been a while since I showed the status of the Soviet Garrison. It is still at 106% but the interdiction hexes are getting pretty thick. I got a SEC XX last turn that should end there but it will only allow transferring to the MAP this turn. So this turn to the MAP, one turn on the map, and then two turns to the RESERVE so four turns before it will get there.
