T09 Soviet Air Attack:

Looking through the previous Soviet's attacks and I found one that makes me happy. Luftflotte 4 mobilizes against the Soviet Long Range Air Command and wipes the sky clear of Soviet aircraft.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (3/31/2021 9:02:48 PM)

T09 Air Phase:

Unfortunately that battle does not represent the whole front. Luftflotte 1 and 2 are both suffering from a lack of fighters. The Soviet VVS has lost 4.9K aircraft in air combat but the Axis have lost 946 fighters to various causes. Due to this fact I will turn Ground Support off for now by unchecking the box by the directive. I need to rebuild some of the fighter squadrons. I also adjusted the Odessa Naval Patrol a few hexes more east to block the next two Soviet ports (Nikolaev and Kherson).

T09 Freight:

Things continue to do well delivering freight in this nice weather. Supplies lost are still about a third of the received amount.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (3/31/2021 9:03:41 PM)

T09 AGN:

18th Army is advancing on the Narva River line from both the west and the south. 16th Army is trying to reduce the pocket while extending its protection of the southern flank. 4th PG finishes forming another large pocket of ten Soviet divisions.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (3/31/2021 9:04:07 PM)

T09 AGC:

9th Army eliminates the pocket west of Smolensk and advances to isolate Smolensk. 4th Army continues to extend northwards to help relieve 2nd PG. 2nd Army is almost beyond the Pripyet Marshes in the south. 3rd PG continues to hold one corps in refitting while the other returns to the front line to try and push towards Moscow. 2nd PG is concentrating to help push on Moscow.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (3/31/2021 9:04:36 PM)

T09 AGS:

6th Army is pushing its way beyond the Pripyet Marshes and isolates Kiev this turn. 17th Army is forming the pocket to the south east of Kiev while also trying to push the front line further east. 11th Army is advancing on the Soviet defensive line. The Rumanians are moving towards Nikolaev and isolates it.

T09 Garrison:

I sent the Hungarian Cavalry brigade to the Soviet Union Garrison this turn and hope that the Hungarian Security brigade can join it next turn. It is a two turn delay to join the garrison so things should start improving by turn 12.

Jajusha -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (3/31/2021 9:37:48 PM)

You keep scoring pockets in AGN against impossible terrain, but everytime you do, there is another soviet wall after

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/1/2021 12:22:34 AM)

Yes because when the AI is at 110+ they teleport to where they are needed to form a line. Against a human opponent without that teleportation trick Leningrad would probably be in real trouble now. But then again a human player may have set up so that I could not keep pocketing the defensive line.

It is also historical - every time a pocket was made and eliminated the Soviets were able to form a new line. The only time it came close was Operation Typhoon and then the Soviets were saved by mud.

T10 Supply Net North:

AGN is doing strong. AGC needs some help but that is improving too.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/1/2021 6:46:10 PM)

T10 Supply Net South:

Some major improvements over the last two turns or so. Still a ways to go though. A supply net is never done.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/1/2021 6:46:35 PM)

T10 Air Phase:

I realign the Recon Directives. The fighters still have a ways to go to recover so the Ground Support directives continue to be off.

T10 Freight:

Still getting more than needed for the ground and about 90% for the air.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/1/2021 6:47:38 PM)

T10 AGN:

18th Army crosses the Narva River and meets with the infantry coming from the south. 16th Army is stretched thin but it pushes back Soviet incursions from the east while trying to reduce the pockets as fast as possible. 4th PG helps reduce the pocket and holding the line until it can be relieved by the 18th and 16th Armies. I am probabaly going to give up on Leningrad and head south with the PG to help either AGC or AGS. The FBD railed down to Brest-Litovsk this turn to work on the double line heading to the southeast from there. This will connect up and increase the supplies for the double line AGS has been depending on.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/1/2021 6:48:02 PM)

T10 AGC:

9th Army is holding the northern flank for the AG while helping out with the siege of Smolensk. 4th Army is holding the southern flank of the PGs. 2nd Army is pushing forward on the southern flank of the AG. 3rd PG breaks out to the north east and comes close to Vyazma. 2nd PG breaks through south of Vyazma and completes the pocker right in front of Vyazma while almost pocketing the city too.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/1/2021 6:48:31 PM)

T10 AGS:

6th Army captures Kiev and continues eastward. 17th Army is trying to reduce the pocket south of Kiev while also supporting the eastward movement of 1st PG. 11th Army is advancing eastward towards the Dnepr River bend. The Rumanians, heady with their success at Odessa, quickly take Nikolaev and continues across the mouth of the Dnepr heading towards the Crimea. 1st PG sends a corps south to help with the Crimea while also helping the 6th Army advance from Kiev.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/1/2021 6:48:57 PM)

T10 Soviet Union Garrison:

The garrison is now up to 91%. I sent the Hungarian Security Brigade to join the garrison this turn so it should show up on T12.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/1/2021 6:49:36 PM)

T10 Rail Lines:

There has been a large debate on logistics in WitE2. One of the things is if it is worth doing multiple tracks from point A to point B. This is the current track usage from Berlin to Warsaw. You can see the yellow lines are all through Germany itself. This is showing my point that the supply net will go through the cheapest cost rail that it can. If this is how crowded and heavily used Germany itself is, you can see what the problems can be if you rely on a single double line.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/1/2021 6:50:11 PM)

T10 OOB:

I feel better with the Soviets under 3M men.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/1/2021 6:50:54 PM)

T10 Ground Losses:

The Soviets have lost 2.45M men so far. Never enough is it?

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/1/2021 6:51:20 PM)

T10 Air Losses:

The Axis have managed to keep the loss ratio at more than 4:1 but the fighters are getting swarmed. Part of this is that I am playing with the Soviets at 110 in all categories and that is a BIG difference at this point. When ratings are over 50 there is a major improvement than when they are at 50 or below. So the air is much more effective at this rating.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/1/2021 6:51:49 PM)

T10 Production and Trucks:

I am down to about 6K trucks in the pool and the bad weather has not hit yet. Things will be tight there. You can also see that my fighter pool is hurting, although I would think that there should be some more squadrons updating to the Bf-109F-4. I have the Automatic Upgrade on.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/1/2021 6:52:23 PM)

T10 Destroyed Units:

I would just like to point out that the Soviets have lost over 200 divisions. Pre-war intel said they could field about 300 divisions when they were totally mobilized. So less than 100 divisions to go!

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/1/2021 6:52:45 PM)

T10 VPs:

I am at 475 VPs with only 50 more to go by the end of the year to avoid Axis Sudden Loss. I only have 225 to go in the next 6 turns to make the Sudden Victory, or 275 by the end of the year. Smolensk and Dnepropetrovsk are the only two cities with under 6 Bonus VPs. Historically Smolensk should have fallen long ago and Denpropetrovsk this turn. Smolensk is always a reach for Turn 4 while I have not really put a priority on Dnepropetrovsk but rather going for Kiev instead.

Thank you.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/2/2021 12:24:05 AM)

T11 Supply Net North:

I truly need Smolensk taken and the railyards there repaired for better supply to the PGs as they drive towards Moscow.

carlkay58 -> RE: Heading East into the Soviet Union (4/2/2021 12:24:31 AM)

T11 Supply Net South:

Steady improvements but the south could really use some more work. Any drive into the Crimea will need to capture the ports as soon as possible for supply.
